recreation classes Spring Registration begins Tuesday, December 14 with classes beginning Monday, January 3. Register online with a Visa or MasterCard at www.StantonCA.gov/Classes. Prefer to pay with cash or a check? Visit us at City Hall, Stanton Central Park, or the Family Resource Center to register in person. Subject to change, please call (714) 890-4270 for current in-person operating hours. As we navigate these uncertain times, all classes and programs are subject to change. Participants will receive a full refund for any classes cancelled by the City of Stanton. Health and safety measures will be in place for all in-person programming and participants will be required to adhere to any and all guidelines. youth programs Out of School Time Recreation Ages: 6-11 years Out of School Time Recreation (OST) is designed to provide youth participants with a safe and nurturing place during after school and non-school hours. OST intends to increase social connection amongst peers as well as increase enrichment opportunities to enhance academic achievement and healthy social behavior. Activities may include, but are not limited to homework assistance, reading, core curriculum lesson plans, character building, sports, recreation, leadership development, artistic and cultural enrichment, healthy development, and self-expression. youth programs Be Brave Be Safe Workshop Ages: 6-12 years The Joyful Child Foundation is proud to partner with the City of Stanton and offer Safety Empowerment Workshops. Workshops are age-appropriate life skills lessons that include physical skills to defend against sexual abuse, violence, or abduction. Lessons are designed to nurture each student’s ability to recognize potential dangers, verbalize discomfort or a need for help, and physically resist abduction, assault, or violence. Students are empowered to make brave, safe, and healthy choices. Pre-registration is required, limited to 20 participants. Math Tutoring Walking Club The Young Leaders of Orange County (YLOC) offers tutoring to participants in 2nd – 6th grade. This free innovative program provides 1-on-1 style coaching in the areas of math. Tutoring is conducted by student volunteers from surrounding high schools. Limited space available.
