Ontario’s Response to COVID-19 – Phase 1: Protect and Support • Closures of non-essential workplaces, outdoor amenities, as well as bars and restaurants • Restrictions on social gatherings • Limiting staff from working in more than one retirement home, long- term care home, or congregate care setting – Phase 2 : Restart • Stage-by-stage – loosen emergency measures and re-open economy • Public health and workplace safety top priority • Two to four weeks between stages – Phase 3: Recover • ‘new normal’, restore economy
Phase 2, Stage 3: reopening Starts: Friday, July 17th at 12:01 a.m. Nearly ALL businesses and public spaces can reopen except: – Amusement parks and water parks – Buffet-style food services – Dancing at restaurants/bars, other than by performers hired by the establishment – Overnight stays at camps for children – Private karaoke rooms – Prolonged or deliberate contact while playing sports – Saunas, steam rooms, bath houses, and oxygen bars – Table games at casinos and gaming establishments.
Phase 2, Stage 3: reopening Restrictions in Stage 3 • Social circles remain max 10 people • Indoor gatherings max 50 people • Outdoor gatherings max 100 people • Employees (performers and crews) DON’T count towards limits • Physical distancing 2 metres from those outside household or social circle remains • Religious indoor gatherings remain restricted to 30% of the capacity of a room
Phase 2, Stage 3: reopening Ontario’s has >170 health and safety guidance resources covering a wide range of workplaces on their website. If unable to open/operate people can submit a reopening proposal to obtain help from the Ontario government.
COVID-19 Exposure in Aylmer • Southwest Public Health has informed the Middlesex- London Health Unit that approximately 50-70 people may have been exposed to COVID-19 at a recent prayer service and funeral of a member of the Old Colony Church in Aylmer. These events took place last week. • Healthcare providers are urged to watch for symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and to test individuals without redirecting them for testing elsewhere. • If a member of the Old Colony community presents themselves for testing, please contact Southwestern Public Health at 519-631- 9900 ext. 1232 or 1-800-922- 0096 ext. 9.
