The nature of MCC Trials MCC trials are special as competitors are competing against the club rather than against each other. Their performance is measured by the ability to climb Observed Sections non-stop. Competitors who successfully climb every ‘Observed Section’ in the Main Barleymow’s Trial and complete the Observed tests without penalty receive a Gold Medal. One failure throughout earns a Silver Medal and two failures earns a Bronze Medal. For many however actually to complete the course and earn a Finishers Certificate is in itself an achievement. F S ARM HOP In Class 0 a Cornish Tin Medal will be presented to the competitors with no failures on any Observed Section or Test and a Copper Medal to those who RESTAURANT fail one of these. Again just getting a Finishers Certificate is an achievement in itself. DELI & FLORIST For the Classic Road Trial (Class R) a Gold Award will be given to those OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK competitors who successfully complete all sections and tests to time and identifies every Code Board. One failure earns a Silver Award and two a SUMMERTIME FUN Bronze Award. Again a Finishers Certificate is in itself an achievement. Open during school summer holidays Full details of the Awards are set out in the Standing Supplementary Regulations or on the MCC website. MAIZE MAZE & ACTIVITY FIELD In addition for the John Aley Summer Trial the MCC has decided that two ⁄2 mile west of Chard on A30 1 special awards will be made in memory of John Aley and John Hayes. These www.barleymowsfarmshop.co.uk are open to any competitor who achieves a Gold or Tin Medal and has the best performance on the timed Regularity Test. The John Aley Award – for overall best performance on four wheels in either the Main or 0 Class trial. The John Hayes Award – for overall best performance on two or three wheels in either the Main or 0 Class trial. In addition there will be a special award for the best overall performance in the Classic Road Trial. The John Aley Summer Trial programme 2021 v2.indd 3 24/05/2021 16:26:48
