The Honeybourne Village News Issue 3 November 2020
On the eve of another national lockdown, I am sad that this won’t be
delivered to everyone as usual, but I hope that if you can read this you can
pass information on to someone that might not be able to access it via a
computer. At the very least, the helplines on page 1 9 could help someone
  in need.
I know we have already been through it all before, but for some people this
might be the last straw. I would like to remind anyone who is struggling that
there is still a lot of help out there and the Honeybourne Community
Response Team is still available on 07957 785829. They haven’t stopped
and will keep assisitng anyone who needs it.
If you have school children and you are struggling please talk to the school
in confidence: free school meals are available too.
As you will be aware, the Parish Council is looking for people to volunteer
to help run this magazine, so please contact Trevor Askew on 8301 41 or
  email chair.hpc@gmail.com .
Wishing everyone the best for the next month of lockdown - keep safe,
  Claire Poore
  Interim Editor

Outline planning application – 65 houses rear of Harvard
Avenue
Wychavon District Council planning committee considered the
outline application on 1 5 October.
Several residents had written strong letters of objection to this
application. Both the Chairman & District Councillor made strong
representations at the meeting against the building of 65 houses,
when the neighbourhood plan states 50. In addition a strong letter &
supporting information from a local resident was read out to the
committee.
Initially the application was voted down but when a planning officer
stated that there were no planning reasons to reject the application,
it was approved.
A detailed planning application will be needed showing precise
details of layout, numbers & styles of houses, drainage scheme &
open space & walkway layouts.
Further representations will be made once a detailed application is
available.
Removal of bollards to entrance of walkway to open space near
to co-op, Sycamore Drive.
Unfortunately bollards to both entrances to this footpath across the
open space were removed. Following corresponding with Gateway,
the management company responsible for this development,
agreement has been reached to replace them.
Leys public open space play area
Following a great response to the play questionnaire (thanks to
everyone who took the time to complete this) the Parish Council is
going to seek tenders to develop the play area, in line with
outcomes from the play equipment group discussions & outcomes
from the questionnaire. The Council are aiming for a commencement
of works next spring.
Vacancy for Parish Councillor
Following a resignation by one of its councillors there is an
opportunity for residents to apply to become a councillor. Election
will either be via co option or election.we are waiting to hear from
Wychavon District Council whether an election is required (if so an
election would be held along with other local council elections on 6
May 2021 ). If an election is not required then appointment will be via
co option. To apply for this position a form is available from the
Parish Clerk. Deadlines for submission will be stated on the form.
Handyman
The Parish Council are actively looking for a handyman to undertake
some work in the village, this is an ongoing project and will need
someone with hands on experience of working outdoors and who

Letter from the Vicar
                    ‘Their name liveth for evermore…’
November is a season of remembrance and the time of Remembrance.
In the season of remembrance, we mark two great Christian celebrations.
On 1 st November, the Feast of All Saints, a day when we remember with
thankfulness heroes of the faith – saints – who have and who continue to
inspire us to press on with our own pilgrimage. The next day, All Souls, is a
day when we remember with thanksgiving loved ones who have gone
before us and who, with Christ, have passed through the ‘valley of the
shadow of death’ into the radiant light of the presence of the Living God. On
2nd November I shall, in particular, be remembering with immense
thankfulness my beloved maternal grandmother and my former parish
priest, Denis, both so influential in my own journey of faith.
And then, of course, we come to the time of Remembrance. On the second
Sunday of November, and then again on 11 th November at 11 .00 am,
people around the world will fall silent and still to remember those whose
lives were given and taken in war. We do this because we value more than
we can express in words the ‘supreme sacrifice’ that these inspirational,
brave and selfless men and women made for us, and for those who will
come after us. For us, many of the fallen suffered unimaginable horrors
pain and suffering. In our remembering, in our recalling each of the fallen
by name and, as the Grave of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey
so visibly reminds us, those whose names are known to God alone, we are
continuing a most noble and worthy tradition. We are ensuring that the
names of these men and women so dear to our hearts, our communities,
our nation, and to God, ‘liveth forevermore.’
Providing that we are legally allowed to do so, we will keep this vitally
important tradition and solemn duty alive this year. At the time of writing, we
are planning on holding Remembrance services across the Vale and
Cotswold Edge Team. Due to the ongoing COVID-1 9 pandemic, the format
and length of our services may be different from previous years and some
services will take place outside. Details will appear on church noticeboards
 nearer to Remembrance Sunday.
Whether you come to church to remember, or whether you remember at
home, I pray that you will make time to remember, reading again these
profoundly moving words by Laurence Binyon from his venerable poem,
 For the Fallen,
‘They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
                       We will remember them.’
With love,
Scott
