The flava of Malaysia, The taste of Singapore, and The charm of Manila. This outline is provided as part of the introduction to Manila’s newest franchise opportunity. 1
Introduction 2 KopiRoti as the name suggests, is an exciting new concept in the art of enjoying coffee blended to perfection. The KopiRoti concept began in Singapore many years ago when Kopi Tiams - the Malay word for coffee shop - started catering to a very demanding clientele, locals who knew how coffee should be blended the Asian way and who demanded nothing but the best at a reasonable cost. However, it took the vision and foresight of its founders, Wilson and Julie Tecson to realize how such a product could whet the appetites of Filipinos. In less than two years, a hobby has become a passion and a passion is now turning into a lifelong pursuit of an idea that has such great appeal to those who enjoy the simple life - garnished with a cup of coffee and highlighted with a tasty “bun”. As with any good cup of coffee, also comes a tasty morsel, and so each KopiRoti cup of coffee is offered with a selection of appetizers that are also varied and delightful – each with its own distinctive Asian flavor. KopiRoti’s value proposition to its clients is fantastic taste, shared memories, and a unique dining experience – all at a reasonable cost. ©The information provided herein is proprietary and copyright protected on behalf of KopiRoti Inc. The KopiRoti Concept 3 In today’s busy world of commerce, the art of producing a product line that has strong consumer appeal is the dream of every marketer. KopiRoti have achieved that dream. The products that KopiRoti offer have a very distinctive taste and flavor that separates KopiRoti from all other coffee shops who merely offer ambience and high prices or highly sugared products. What is even more impressive is that the prices are affordable. • The Concept – Distinctive products with high consumer appeal at an affordable cost. • The Manufacturing Processes – To achieve their distinctive taste and appeal, each KopiRoti product has a unique manufacturing process that is proprietary and copyright protected. • Marketing – The owners of KopiRoti have gained exclusive access to these processes and through the company’s wide marketing programs have successfully been sending the message out to their clients. • Brand Management – A critical aspect of the investment strategy is the building of the brand to grow for the initial investment of its franchisees. KopiRoti’s brand management program is designed to provide an investment opportunity as well as a sustainable income opportunity for all of its franchisee and investors. ©The information provided herein is proprietary and copyright protected on behalf of KopiRoti Inc. The Opportunity / Business Model 4 Each KopiRoti franchisee is given an opportunity to earn a substantial income as well as recapture the initial investment within 21 to 24 months. The pro-forma business plan provided with each investment package shows on a conservative basis, how income is derived, where and when growth occurs, and a look at all expenses based on a 50 square meter model. In addition, franchisees get the full benefit of all corporate marketing programs that will focus on Brand Building, Brand Awareness, Product Awareness, and company wide incentive plans – such as loyalty programs as they are implemented. Each franchise opportunity is provided with the specialized equipment needed to deliver the quality of product as demanded by the brand, as well as an initial stock of merchandise required to start the business. As merchandise is used, replenishment is automatic and timely. To start each franchise, it requires not only merchandise and equipment but also a range of services that are all included in the initial investment. These are as follows: • Site planning, design and construction • Electrical and mechanical implementation • Training in production and customer care • Brand items, such as signage, collateral materials, packaging, utensils, and wares • A handbook of Standard Operating Procedures • Employee guidelines and training in delivery of service ©The information provided herein is proprietary and copyright protected on behalf of KopiRoti Inc. Testimonials 6 Below are unsolicited testimonials found on popular local blog sites: • Ajay’s Writing on the Wall (http://www.annalyn.net/munchin/i-want-my-kopiroti/) My former boss invited me over to check out a coffeeshop specializing in Singapore breakfast specialties ~ a newly-opened outlet actually owned by the family of an officemate of ours. After partaking of their menu items in one sitting, I can very well say I can t just get enough of their breads, tea and coffee. It s my newfound addiction, and the only thing that s keeping me from going to this cozy kopitiam every single day is that it s in faraway Quezon City. I will post no disclaimers for this place. KopiRoti is definitely a must-try for its taste, the freshness of its breads and its down-home affordability. • Dessert Comes First (http://dessertcomesfirst.blogspot.com/2007/01/kopi-roti-for-devotees-of-soft-boiled.html) One place that we do all like to eat eggs at however, is at Kopi Roti. It s similar to the kopi tiams, coffee shops scattered all over Singapore, where locals get their caffeine fix and talk shop. Because I grew up speaking Bahasa Indonesia, which is similar to Malay, the term kopi roti is very familiar to me: kopi is coffee, and roti is bread. And that s exactly what you get at Kopi Roti. While not an extensive menu by any stretch of the imagination, what you ll find here is representative of what s served at Malay coffeeshops, quite different from the more recognizable Western counterparts. True to its name, there are breads, coffees, and teas, either separate or in sets. • Our Awesome Planet (http://anton.blogs.com/awesome/2006/10/kopi_roti_love.html) I’m not sure why they are promoting Kopi Bun instead of the Kaya Toast. Actually, this is equally good. I like the crispy coffee crust on the outside and the inside is filled with a hollow opening filled with Kaya (it taste like it). The best part is, you can dip the big chunk of the kopi bun in the hot kopi with the condensed milk. The bun will absorb a good amount of the Kopi like a sponge so that you have enough time to put the kopi bun to your mouth before it drips. This is a lot lot better than the starbucks coffee experience if you ask me. The Kopi/ Tea are very good! I'm not a coffee addict so I cannot describe how good it is. I can just describe that after drinking the coffee with the condensed milk, you would say "Damn, this coffee is really good. ” If you haven't tried Kopi Roti, you've been missing on one of the best foreign coffee shop that arrived in Manila since Starbucks. • Pinoy Food Talk (http://www.pinoyfoodtalk.net/index.php/site/comments/kopi_roti/) The price of coffee is about 40% less than Starbucks and the quality is comparable. But what I really liked about Kopi Roti is the unpretentiousness of its beverages. Not fancy like Starbucks which is 70% looks and presentation. Kopi Roti seems to operate on the principle that you don t have to scream to be noticed. With all the coffee shops around--and they have mushroomed during the past couple of years--Kopi Roti has not ridden on the Starbucks formula. Which is good, as far as I am concerned. It maintains its individuality and its unique appeal. • Rants and Raves (http://wysgal.blogspot.com/2006/08/kopi-roti-katipunan-avenue-quezon-city.html) But I like the whole Asian sweetened-milk with coffee they have going. You can choose condensed or evaporated milk with your coffee or tea. Which makes me wonder why I don't have my coffee like this more often at home.I ordered a lovely looking Kopi Bun (P35 for an order of freshly baked coffee-flavored bread) to try at home. Alas my Kopi Bun and I were not meant to be, because I made the mistake of leaving it in the kitchen while I attended to some errands. When I was ready to try my bread I found my parents, 4 of my siblings and an empty brown paper bag in the middle of the kitchen table. ©The information provided herein is proprietary and copyright protected on behalf of KopiRoti Inc.
