To study a TGSS course, you must be in year high school students. These courses provide an opportunity 11 at a minimum, and be 16 years old, or turning 16 during for school students to trial studies in an area of interest. year 11. ARTS & DESIGN Screen and media CERTIFICATE III IN SCREEN AND MEDIA [CUA31015] This is an online course. Learn a range of skills and knowledge across 3D modelling animation and digital imaging video assets and design. Study in an online class with a lecturer at hand via video conference to guide you through a range of experiences in this exciting field. Use this course to explore your media specialisation for further study. Study from your home or school in your region. COURSE DELIVERY Two semesters or nine months of delivery, one day per week. Concludes first week of November. DAY, TIME AND DATES E very Thursday during SA school terms, 9.00am – 4.00pm. Offered once per year at the commencement of semester one. It is recommended that students do not have a full study band at school if they also wish to study this RECOMMENDATION course. This course contains some complexity in handling software and will require six hours homework per week, and six hours on each delivery day. Schools should consider acquiring the software listed in additional information. It provides a pathway to the primary trades in the construction industry (with the exception of plumbing). Trade outcomes are predominantly achieved through an Australian Apprenticeship. BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION Electrotechnology CERTIFICATE II IN ELECTROTECHNOLOGY (CAREER START) [UEE22011] This course opens the door to careers in the high-tech Electrotechnology Industry, which is essential for today’s energy dependent lifestyle. The growing industry requires qualified tradespersons in the areas of domestic and commercial electrical installations; electrical power generation and distribution; telecommunications and security systems; air-conditioning and refrigeration; instrumentation and process control; renewable and sustainable energy and electric vehicles and rail transport. You will learn the fundamental electrical knowledge and skills to be work ready. It also provides a pathway to those who are wanting to gain an apprenticeship as an Electrician. If an apprenticeship is obtained many of the units are transferable to Certificate III in Electrotechnology (UEE30811). COMMUNITY SERVICES Ageing support CERTIFICATE III IN INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT (AGEING) [CHC33015] This course provides skills for work primarily undertaken in residential aged care facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisational policies, guidelines and service delivery plans. It is also accepted by various community-based service providers. COURSE DELIVERY 18 months DAY, TIME AND DATES Part-time, various locations, day and times vary. This qualification may be offered at other locations based on individual negotiation with the Educational Manager. Students to commence at start of semester. It is recommended that students do not have a full study band at school if they wish to also study this RECOMMENDATION qualification at TAFE SA. Not all units listed below are offered in the part-time group during normal school hours. Students will need NOTE to attend other classes to meet all the competencies. COMMUNITY SERVICES Community services CERTIFICATE II IN COMMUNITY SERVICES [CHC22015] This course provides skills for working within the broader community services as well as transferable skills for many other industries. It is an entry level course. Not all elective units are included below; alternative units may be selected to suit schools’ individual needs. COURSE DELIVERY To be prearranged by the schools prior to year commencement. Current options include a six month delivery with block workshops or 12 month delivery, one day per week. DAY, TIME AND DATES Commences in February 2020 – various end dates depending on delivery site and individual programs. This course is recommended for students who would like to explore further studies in careers that are RECOMMENDATION focused on people and their communities. It will provide students with vocational pathways to transition into further Cert III studies in areas such as Childcare, Community Services, Aged Care. COMMUNITY SERVICES Early childhood education CERTIFICATE III IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE [CHC30113] The work undertaken in this qualification reflects the role of educators in a range of early childhood education settings. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. COURSE DELIVERY 38 weeks per year, one day per week DAY, TIME AND DATES Thursday (depending on location), 9.30am – 3.30pm, February – December RECOMMENDATION Completion of a full Certificate III will occur over two years, it is not recommended to do the Certificate III in less than two years due to requirements of the Training Package. NOTE Not all units listed below are offered in the part-time group during normal school hours. Students will need to attend other classes to meet all the competencies Competencies and schedule class time may differ depending on location. Vocational Placement is an essential part of the achievement of this qualification. To meet Training Package requirements students spend approximately 20 days each year on placement in a regulated children’s service. The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production and general farm maintenance job focus. Students can pathway to the Certificate III in Agriculture (AHC30116) or Certificate III in Rural Operations (AHC32816). COURSE DELIVERY Part-time, 12 – 18 months depending on units undertaken DAY, TIME AND DATES Part-time day, various locations, day and times vary, (rolling intake students must be enrolled at least 1 week prior to commencement of unit to be undertaken).
