THE TEXAS COTTON ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT ANGIE GOODMAN of ACG Cotton Marketing, Inc., LUBBOCK, TEXAS INVITES YOU to be A PART of texas Cotton’s STORY THE 107th ANNUAL CONVENTION IT ALL BEGAN IN GALVESTON THE HOTEL GALVEZ | GALVESTON, TEXAS APRIL 25, 26 y 27, 2018
your invitation to attend the 107th annual convention texas cotton’s story our story Our story began in Galveston. The original call for an organizational meeting was held in Waco, Texas, on February 3, 1911, in which a resolution was adopted stating the desire that an organization be established for the cotton trade in Texas, among representatives of Dallas, Fort Worth, Paris and Waco. On February 16, 1911, the committee selected to secure the charter met in the lobby bar of the Hotel Galvez, just prior to its grand opening, to draft our Articles of Incorporation and to discuss trading rules to be adopted. The eight members of the committee were: Anderson Clayton & Co., Crespi & Co., Evans & Co., W.D. Felder & Co., J.L. Goldman & Co., H. Kempner, Geo. H. McFadden & Bro., and P.G. Pauls & Co. The following day, on February 17, 1911, a final meeting in Waco, Texas, resulted in the permanent organization of The Texas Cotton Association. The organization committee applied to the State of Texas for the charter issued March 20, 1911. The first convention of The Texas Cotton Association was held at the Hotel Galvez on March 23, 1912, with W.C. Lawson presiding. Exactly one hundred years ago on March 15 & 16, 1918, members of The Texas Cotton Association met at the Hotel Galvez, with President Joseph W. Evans presiding. On March 20, 1982, Eduardo Esteve presiding over the 71st convention of members stated in his annual address, “We regard Galveston as a homecoming for our members.” 2 0 1 8 TE X AS C O TT O N ASS O C IATI O N co n v e n t i o n — 2
