FTV and FTV 5 Fixed Table Vertical Machining Centres Technology at Work with FTV For many types of production work, different machining centres are performance features required to meet the most demanding, and the needed for a variety of component types, sizes and geometrics. And for a most diverse, high-production and automotive applications, high-speed maximum productivity, a pallet shuttle system is often required to reduce aerospace and mould and die requirements. FTVs incorporate a travelling load/unload times. With Cincinnati’s FTV and FTV 5 ranges of 3-, 4- and column that contains all axis motions, allowing pendulum loading in cycle 5-axis Fixed Table Vertical machining centres, production capacity and to reduce load/unload times and maximising spindle utilisation. The fixed table speed, plus operational flexibility, come as standard. accommodates heavier loads with no effect on accuracy – as table droop The FTV range provides 40, 50 or HSK taper multi-tasking machining and roll are eliminated – and provides greater capacity for multiple set-ups precision and impressive speed, and possesses the capacity for tailoring to a or components utilising all of the table. An array of optional high-speed variety of applications. FTV and FTV 5 offer the specifications, options and spindles and 4/5-axis solutions are available to ensure maximum versatility coupled with superior performance. 02 | 0 3
Application Flexibility with FTV Maximum Work Envelope Unprecedented Speed, Accuracy and Rigidity with more Choice for more Flexibility The key to success with FTV is to tailor the machine for your requirements. Its flexible, modular structure results in a machine tool perfect for your parts production, and future proofed for your forthcoming requirements. In addition to the extremely high standard specification, the FTV can be applied to meet exact machining requirements, through trunnion and rotary tables affixed to the base, centre partitions for in-cycle loading to increase Full Width Envelope your productivity and side loading doors for automated loading. CNC Controls The ranges of FTV and FTV 5 fixed table vertical machining centres make them ideal for use across many industries, markets and applications. For this reason, Cincinnati offers a choice of state-of-the-art CNC controls from leading manufacturers GE Fanuc, Siemens and Heidenhain. All controls provide 3-, 4- and 5-axis capability, powerful processing and easy transfer of large programmes to the control. The CNC control is mounted into an ergonomically designed console, which can be positioned at any point in the front of the machine, ensuring the control is at hand during set-up and machining. The Fanuc 18i-MB is one of the latest control offerings from the world’s largest control manufacturer. The i series controls herald a new approach to CNC control building with the simplification and miniaturisation of the control unit. The Fanuc 18i has the power to control 4 axes simultaneously and has all the functionality and familiarity you have come to expect from a Fanuc control. Cincinnati has worked with Fanuc to provide a range of customised screens, dedicated to Cincinnati machine tools, including “Conventional Milling Machine Emulation” (Quick Cut), “Opera- tor Focused User Friendly Screens” for ease of use, “Tool Load Monitor” to provide a trace of the actual spindle load for a particular tool, and “Dynamic Feedrate Override”, which monitors the cutting load and selectively gives an alarm or reduces the feedrate if the preset tool load is exceeded. The Fanuc 31i-A5 provides the above for the FTV 5 range of 5-axis Fixed Table Verticals, ensuring all axes can be moved simultaneously. The Heidenhain iTNC 530 is ideal for aerospace parts production and mould and die machining. Operator friendly and easy-to-use with conversa- tional shopfloor programming and optimised graphic build-up, parts can be programmed quickly and easily, and tested on-screen to enhance right- first-time machining. The iTNC 530 also features fast block-processing times resulting in faster machining with optimum surface finish. The Siemens Sinumerik 840D is the digital system for complex tasks. It provides powerful processing with a robust industrial PC supplied with Windows NT software, and is ideal for multi-axis machining. With SIEMENS Shopmill shopfloor programming as standard, programming at the control is quick and easy. Transfer of files from CAD/CAM systems is simplified via its Ethernet port.
