February 2020, Leipzig Müller | Die lila Logistik is the leading service provider for the development and implementation of integrated supply chain solutions. With the two divisions, LILA CONSULT and LILA OPERATING, the traditional barrier between consulting and implementation is broken down and answers are found to the ever-increasing logistical challenges relating to organisational structures, more effi- cient processes in the supply chain and the design of new business models. The solutions which are created are implemented either directly at the customer‘s premises or in our own logistics service centre. www.lila-logistik.com 2 FORUM AUTOMOTIVE LOGISTICS 2020
FOREWORD TEARING DOWN BOUNDARIES – Merging Production With Logistics The issue of “interconnection” has become the key factor in the future development of the automotive industry. The times when specialised organisational units were able to optimise plans and processes without being influenced by external events are long gone. Modern communication technologies reveal the frictional losses that result from the iso- lated consideration of the requirements of a single area, and there is increasing aware- ness of these losses in management decisions, process routines and KPI systems. The model of independent silos is being replaced by the model of interconnected organisa- tion – thereby achieving the best outcomes for the entire company driven by communica- Dr.-Ing. Joachim Damasky tion and cooperation. Managing Director Technology and Environment, German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) This also applies in particular to logistics, which has always had numerous interacting interfaces with the procurement, quality assurance, production and distribution func- tions. With the automation of in-plant logistics using driverless transport vehicles, smart devices and self-prompted automatic material orders by production systems, logistics is increasingly merging with production. They are becoming integrated in an ideal way. The Forum Automotive Logistics 2020 will focus on this trend. At Europe’s biggest spe- cial-interest event devoted to the automotive supply chain, we will be leaving familiar terrain and looking at the overarching topics that are calling into question the traditional dividing lines between production and logistics. On February 5 and 6, 2020 you will have the opportunity to listen to strategic presentations and experience reports from man- agement executives and experts on addressing issues such as climate neutrality, digital Robert Blackburn Chairman of the Board, planning, automation or improved data collection. Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL), SVP Global Operations, Stanley Black & Decker The organisers – the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and Bundesv- ereinigung Logistik (BVL) – provide decision-makers and experts in the field of auto- motive logistics and all other interested parties with a platform for networking and the exchange of ideas. You can look forward to two exciting and eventful days. And you can also take advantage of the opportunity to find out about the latest products and services at the parallel exhi- bition as well as to experience automotive production and logistics close-up during the various plant tours. We look forward to welcoming you to Leipzig! Premium partners Media partners www.forum-automobillogistik.de/en 3

PLANT TOURS Separate registration necessary when you register for the Forum BMW Plant Leipzig The BMW plant in Leipzig has been producing BMW cars for customers around the world since March 2005, with around 1,000 vehicles rolling off the assembly line every day. The plant makes more than 860 models in the classic “1” and “2” series alone on a daily basis. In Sep- tember 2013, these operations were joined by the production of the BMW i3, followed in May 2014 by the BMW i8. Both cars are future-focused vehicles with alternative drive concepts and bodies made using innovative lightweight carbon. Four wind turbines installed at the plant specifically for this purpose supply green energy for the production of these automobiles. Leesys – Leipzig Electronic Systems GmbH The specialist field of the Leesys company – backed up almost a century of experience – is the development and production of electronic assemblies and systems, the verification and testing of these assemblies, and the supply of electronic components and plastics as a one- stop service. You can look forward to exploring a state-of-the-art plant! And learning how a Leesys lighthouse project uses the advantages of business intelligence and analyses its material flow system in real time. In this way, it provides decision-makers with essential key performance indicators (KPIs) in the form of dashboards. Porsche Leipzig Factory Ever since it was built in the year 2000, the Porsche factory in Leipzig has been one of the most modern and sustainable automotive factories anywhere in the world. Some 4,300 employees currently produce a total of 500 vehicles in the compact “Macan” SUV and the Panamera sports tourer model ranges every day. The Porsche factory in Leipzig is currently undergoing its fifth expansion to handle the next generation of the Macan with fully electric drive. This means that Porsche Leipzig will in future also be producing electric cars on the existing assembly lines.
