TOUR INCLUSIONS Complimentary chauffeur driven transfers. Victorian passengers from Greater Melbourne, Bendigo, Torquay, Ballarat, Geelong, the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas, Phillip Island and selected areas of Gippsland will be picked up and returned home in a private chauffeured vehicle by one of our professional drivers. DAY 1 Monday 1st March, 2021 PORT MELBOURNE - SPIRIT OF TASMANIA Our Eastward Escape - Tassie tour will take us down the road less travelled to discover some of Tasmania's unique animals, delicious food, history and breathtaking scenery. After chauffeur pick up from home, we begin our holiday mid afternoon as we board O’Shannessy’s luxury coach and travel to Station Pier to join the Spirit of Tasmania for the overnight cruise to Devonport. We will have dinner on board at the “Tasmanian Market Kitchen” then have time to explore the many onboard facilities including bars, cinemas and lounges. Enjoy the cruise down Port Phillip Bay as we settle into our own ensuited twin berth porthole cabin. Dinner at own expense and arrangement OVERNIGHT: Porthole Cabin, SPIRIT OF TASMANIA DAY 2 Tuesday 2nd March, 2021 SHEFFIELD - DELORAINE - LAUNCESTON On arrival in Tasmania we will be greeted by O'Shannessy's coach captain and escorted to the coach. We will travel to a nearby venue for breakfast before touring to Sheffield. This hinterland town is well known for its outstanding murals where the pictorial history of the region has been painted on just about every blank wall in the town. We will travel the scenic back roads, beside the Gog Range, to the town of Deloraine where we will visit Yarns Artwork in Silk. After lunch we journey along the Old Bass Highway to Launceston passing through Westbury, Carrick and Hadspen. We’ll explore Cataract Gorge with a walk through the magnificent cliff-side gardens; you may choose to ride the world's longest single span chairlift (own expense) or enjoy the tranquility of the gardens at the on-site café. We take a stroll in City Park and the John Hart Conservatory, noted for displays of begonias, cyclamens and other hot house blooms. DAY 3 Wednesday 3rd March, 2021 SEAHORSES - BARNBOUGLE - DERBY - ST HELENS Today we head to the east coast, following the Tamar River, Australia’s longest navigable tidal estuary, which meanders through the heart of cool climate vineyards, orchards and hamlets. We will take in magnificent views from bush-ranger Brady’s Lookout before stopping at Seahorse World; here we visit a working seahorse farm which will give us unique access to these magical creatures. We then cross the unique A-frame Batman Bridge and travel to Barnbougle. Our lunch venue is located near the seaside village of Bridport in Tasmania's North-East and their dining room is perched atop a coastal dune with spectacular views of the world renowned golf course and coastline. This afternoon we tour the agriculturally rich north east coast. We will visit Legerwood and view the War Memorial Tree Carvings, honouring the fallen soldiers of the region and cross Weldborough Pass through the myrtle rainforest before descending to the East Coast at St Helens where we stop overnight at Panorama. DAY 4 Thursday 4th March, 2021 BAY OF FIRES - TASMANIAN DEVIL - BICHENO Enjoy a late start today before travelling a short distance to the breathtaking Bay of Fires, voted the hottest travel destination in 2009 by Lonely Planet. Touring down the East Coast we stop for lunch and enjoy some local cuisine overlooking the blue waters of the Tasman Sea. We continue past Douglas Aspley National Park with it's spectacular dolerite boulders and rugged hills enroute to Bicheno. We get to meet a Tasmanian Devil at the East Coast Nature World and learn about the threat to their survival during an informative ride on the ‘Pelican Express’. We then tour the fishing and holiday village of Bicheno, viewing the ‘Gulch’ fishing harbour and the ocean blowhole before travelling to our overnight accommodation. DAY 5 Friday 5th March, 2021 FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK - HOBART CITY SIGHTS This morning we travel to the picturesque Freycinet National Park famous for its jagged pink granite peaks, crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. We take a stroll to Cape Tourville which offers sweeping views along the coast and discover the area's history on a guided tour by a local park ranger. We then travel to Swansea where we’ll visit the Bark Mill Museum to learn about nineteenth century Australiana and view the working steam engine which powered the original Bark Mill on this site. We will enjoy a light lunch before pausing at the convict built, enigmatic Spiky Bridge. We then follow the Prosser River Valley through Sorell before crossing the picturesque Derwent River into the city of Hobart nestled at the foot of Mount Wellington. Before checking into our hotel, we tour historic Battery Point, Salamanca Place and Constitution Docks. OVERNIGHT: The Old Woolstore, HOBART DAY 6 Saturday 6th March, 2021 SALAMANCA MARKET - BOTANICAL GARDENS As it is Saturday morning, we will take the opportunity to explore the famous Salamanca open-air Market which highlights fine Tasmanian art & craft including hand-worked glass, innovative design in Tasmanian timbers, stylish clothing and bold ceramics. With 300 stalls there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We then enjoy some quiet moments in Hobart’s Royal Botanical Gardens, vibrant with autumn colours and blooms. The remainder of the day is ours to relax or explore as we wish. On offer this afternoon (own expense) is an opportunity to visit MONA (the museum of old and new art) which is gaining a reputation as one of the world's great museums and must be seen to be appreciated. The museum does contain a few controversial pieces that some people may find offensive but love it or hate it, you'll certainly be talking about it. Lunch at own expense and arrangement. DAY 7 Sunday 7th March, 2021 SALMON PONDS - RUSSELL FALLS Today we travel through the delightful Derwent Valley which will be starting to show its autumn colours. We pass through New Norfolk to Mt Field National Park which is one of Tasmania's most loved national parks. An easy 10 minute stroll will take us to the iconic Russell Falls. The track is beautifully edged with graceful ferns and giant eucalypts towering overhead. We visit the Plenty Salmon Ponds, circa 1861, which is the oldest trout hatchery in the Southern Hemisphere. It was the birthplace of trout in Australia and the origin of Tasmania’s legendary trout fishery. We’ll enjoy the original 19th century English style public open space of superb trees, hedges and lawns. We return to Hobart following the Derwent River in time to relax before dinner. DAY 8 Monday 8th March, 2021 BRUNY ISLAND This morning we travel south to Kettering to board the ferry and cross the beautiful D’Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island. Not only can Bruny Island boast some of Tasmania’s most superb scenery of sweeping beaches, mountains and spectacular capes and bays, it also has a fascinating history. Notable early visitors include Captain Furneaux (1773) Captain Cook (1777) and Bligh (1788 & 1792) in the ‘Bounty’ who planted Tasmania's first apple tree. We arrive at Roberts Point on North Bruny and tour south past The Neck which is a game reserve of penguin and mutton bird rookeries and site of the memorial to famous Tasmanian aboriginal Truganini. We then continue to scenic Adventure Bay and explore the foreshore before visiting the Bligh Museum built of convict made bricks, and housing interesting historical exhibits which include the remains of Cooks Tree. We will enjoy lunch at Hotel Bruny which prides itself in offering the freshest local produce. On the return journey to the ferry we stop at Island Produce which offers a superb quality range of fudge, truffles and chocolate sauces. We reboard the ferry at Kettering then return to Hobart, travelling beside the Derwent River. OVERNIGHT: The Old Woolstore, HOBART
DAY 9 Tuesday 9th March, 2021 RICHMOND TO MELBOURNE or RICHMOND TO HOBART We will travel to the historic town of Richmond where we will view the spire of Australia’s oldest Catholic Church from beneath the arch of our oldest stone brides still in use. We will wander the streets of this delightful Georgian town and discover the arts and crafts, bakeries and tea rooms. This afternoon we farewell our fellow passengers who are flying home today. Passengers who have chosen to join the next part of our adventure in O’Shannessy’s West Coast Wilds tour, will meet up with the next tour in Hobart . It is important that You read these terms and conditions carefully and that you understand your rights and obligations. By agreeing to participate in a tour arranged by Us, You are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions in full. Any special requests, dietary/personal must be notified to Our office at the time of booking. All efforts will be made to accommodate any special requests. It is your responsibility to advise O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours of any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect your ability to participate on the tour. No passenger will be permitted to embark on or continue the tour while their physical or mental condition is, in the opinion of any representative of O’Shannessy’s Quality tours, such as to render them incapable of caring for themselves, or whereby they become objectionable to other passengers or they become a hazard to themselves or other passengers. Whilst on tour with O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours should a passenger require medical attention, discharge papers must be provided to a representative of O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours before you are able to re-join the tour. O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours has a passenger code of conduct. O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours representatives/ crew or any associated carrier, reserves the right at its discretion to exclude from a tour or to terminate the travel arrangements of any person during the course of the tour without refund, of anyone who: Presents on the day of the tour departure as ill or unwell in any way, including but not limited to: cough, runny nose, sneezing, vomiting or temperature above 37.5 deg C Resides in an Australian suburb, which is the subject of a lockdown order by Your state government, Your request to book on one of Our tours may be denied Is incapable of caring for themselves without a minder/carer Is unable to cope with the requirements of the tour or who may need or require services or facilities that are not available Fails to comply with the reasonable instructions of O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours crew Engages in undesirable behaviour or interferes with the enjoyment of other passengers Is a hazard to themselves or other passengers and/or is likely to become objectionable to other passengers, O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours staff and or third party suppliers Anyone so excluded will be required to disembark at a safe public location, transport from which will be wholly their responsibility. However, if and where possible, O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours staff may assist in obtaining transport. You agree that O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours is released from all liability for You and You agree not to hold O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours responsible for termination of Your travel arrangements.
