Dear All,
It gives me great pleasure to invite you all to the 3rd Annual Sunshine Coast Open. The Sunshine Coast
Open is regarded not only as a competition for developing players, but as a family orientated competition
where young and old compete in a relaxed atmosphere. The Sunshine Coast Open is open to every
athlete, official and club representative, regardless of affiliation and or style.
We have the usual events, sparring (from ages 5 years and up), Individual Poomsae and Pairs
Poomsae (mixed or same sex).
This year we have changed the venue to accomadate the growing numbers of competitors & spectators.
We hope this brings a more enjoyable tournament experience.
To ensure this event runs on schedule coaches please note; Where a match is called to begin
and there is no coach available the match WILL begin regardless, without any penalty to the player.
However, should the coach take their place during the contest they will forfeit any protest for that match.
The use of the Daedo Electronic scoring system will be used for all divisions and Daedo electronic
head guards will be used for all red belt cadets and upwards.
We will be running strict guidlines and release later a COVD-19 safe plan package
in the following weeks.

Schedule of Events
7:30am Doors Open, Officials arrive
7:45 – 8:45am Athlete weigh in (Juniors will be given preference to weigh in first)
9.00am: Coaches Meeting
9.15am: Sparring begins
9.15am: Poomsae begins

There will be an extra weigh-in held Saturday the 26th of February from 3 - 4.30pm at USC Sports Stadium.
Court Marshalling
All players in a division will go to a court and complete the division before the next division starts.2022

Sparring Information
Coaches must register online for credentialing. We ask that your club provide sufficient coaches to avoid the
possibility of players competing without a coach. Please note that, under WTF rules, a maximum of three (3) calls
to the field of play will be given. Fights will proceed in fight number order. If a player is ready, the fight will proceed
with or without a coach. A coach may enter the court to commence coaching even if the match has started.
A coach briefing meeting will occur at 9:00am, where they will be briefed on the days proceedings and advised
if there are any changes to the day’s format. Coaches are required to attend briefings.
Referees must register online for credentialing. We ask that your club provide sufficient referees to ensure the
day runs to schedule. All clubs who have accredited referee’s please ensure this information reaches them.
A lunch will be provided to the referees, as usual, and to ensure we cater for enough people
we urge you to register online. All referees will receive a gift on the day, on top of their per diem payments,
as an appreciation of their time.
Please note: If both yellow belt competitiors do not have electronic foot guards, an agreement between coaches
can allow for the match to be played with manual scoring.

General Information
Referees/Judges
To enable us to cater correctly please ensure you register online at http://internetentries.com/scopen.
In addition to your per diem payment you will receive lunch. Your per diem payment will of course be
based on your referee/judge ranking as per previous state policy.
Coaches
To enable your free entry and accreditation please ensure you register online at http://internetentries.com/scopen.
Please also note that fights will proceed in numerical order, and if you are not present, your player will be required
to compete without you, and should you arrive to your match after it commences you will forfeit your protest/video
review rights.
Video Review
There will be video review for elite black belts. For beginner black belts and below review will be consensus
between judges, referee and TA.
Early Bird
Early Bird discounts will apply up to midnight of February 6th. You can make changes to your entry up to midnight
February 20th however, if you add any divisions after the early bird discount closes, you will lose your early bird
discount and be required to pay the FULL amount.
Online Entry
Registration AND payment is only via online entry, please ensure you register online at http://internetentries.com/
scopen . You can make changes to your entry up to midnight Sunday 20th February.
Uncontested Players/Refunds
All players will be given the opportunity, during registration, to opt to contest a different division should you be
uncontested (including Poomsae). Refunds will be via a PayPal reversal at the completion of the competition.
Payment Options
Payment is made at the time of registration (PayPal, Credit Card or eCheque), any player who does not pay during
this time will be given 72 hours (3 days) to do so, at which time the system will automatically delete your entry.
You do not need a PayPal account as the system will accept credit card (which is via the PayPal system).You can also read
