Tambourine 1. Make a shape from wire or card 2. Decorate the tambourine frame 3. Attach jingle bells
Spin Drum 1. Cut two circles of card 2. Decorate the circles 3. Tie two beads either end of a piece of cord twice as long as the diameter of your circle. 4. Fasten the cord across the centre of the undecorated side of one circle 5. Fasten a straw or lolly stick for a handle. 6. Stick the second circle on, decorated side out
Balloon Drum 1. Find an empty can or pot (e.g. plastic baking powder pot) 2. Cut the thin part off from a balloon 3. Stretch the large part of the balloon over the pot. 4. Use straws or garden sticks as beaters. 5. Decorate.
Bird Feeder 1. Decorate a carton 2. Cut an arch in the front 3. Cut two wings in the sides 4. Cut a beak and eyes from coloured paper and stick on or draw them on with pens. 5. Make holes low down on the front, back, and both sides 6. Slide a garden stick form back to front and side to side. 7. Fill with bird food and hang outside.
Fish 1. Colour one end of a toilet roll. 2. Draw or paint scales. 3. Cut out fins and a tail from coloured paper. 4. Squash the tail end of the toilet roll, glue on the tail and fins. 5. Make some eyes and glue them on
Yarn creatures 1. Cut a shape from card. 2. Cut grooves around the edge. 3. Weave coloured yarns in and out to make a pattern. 4. Finish your creature with eyes, mouth, horns. 5. Make a story with your yarn monsters in.
Ping Pong Person 1. Draw onto a ping pong ball. 2. Add wool hair or bottle cap hat or any other decorations. 3. If you have a battery tea light, make a hole in th bottom of the ping pong person. 4. Sit the prson on the tea light.
Knitting and crochet 1. Knit or crochet squares. 2. Sew them together into a blanket. 3. If you don't know how, ask someone to teach you or find a lesson on youtube.
Paper Plate pocket 1. Take two paper plates and cut one in half. 2. Make holes around the bottom edge of the whole plate and the remaining edge of the half plate. 3. Thread wool or cord through the holes to join the half and whole plate together. 4. Leave some cord for a handle. 5. Decorate as you wish
Paper Box 1. Take a piece of square paper. 2. Fold it in half both ways. 3. Open it up and fold all 4 corners to the centre. 4. Fold sides to the middle twice. 5. Open up except for two corners. 6. Use the folds to make the first and second sides.
Cooking Follow the recipes to make the cookies or brownies. Ask an adult to help Share them with someone.
Sharon's’ brownie recipe 1. Melt 330g (12 oz) dark chocolate and 180g (6 ½ oz) over ho t water or in a microwave. 2. In a separate bowl beat until creamy 3 large eggs with 270g (9 ½ oz) sugar. 3. Add the chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and add 100g (4oz) self-raising flour. 4. Pout 1/3 – ½ into a square tray 5. Add a layer of broken white or milk chocolate, walnuts, etc to taste 6. Pour remaining mixture on top to cover. 7. Bake at 170c for 25-35 minutes until a knife comes out clean
Deep dark chocolate chip cookies 8oz / 200g self raising flour (I use wholemeal - it's nice) 2 oz / 50g Cocoa Powder 12 oz /300g dark chocolate 12 oz / 300g brown sugar (white will do if that's what you have but brown gives that je ne sais quoi!) 8 oz / 200g butter 3 eggs 400g chocolate chips / chunks 1tsp Vanilla extract (optional) 1. Switch on oven to 325F / 150C /Gas 3 2. Melt the dark chocolate and set aside to cool 3. Place butter and sugar in food processor and beat 4. Add eggs one at a time, beating between each addition 5. Add vanilla and beat 6. Add melted chocolate and beat 7. Add flour & cocoa and beat 8. Add chocolate chips and stir / mix on low until evenly distributed 9. Drop heaped teaspoons of mixture 6 to a baking sheet (they spread) 10. bake for around 20 minutes - take them out when they look slightly underdone as they harden on cooling.
Science - Glitter volcano 1. Bicarbonate of soda, vinegar, glitter. 2. Put the bicarbonate of soda in a clear container. 3. Add the glitter. 4. Add a generous quantity of vinegar. 5. Watch the bubbles life up the glitter, like a volcano. 6. Find out why the bubbles form.
