IV. Rules and Regulations A. Summer Enrichment Program Rules The Summer Enrichment Program operates under the same student discipline rules set forth in the Tempe School District No. 3 Student Discipline Handbook. Please review with your child this handbook located on our website: www.tempeschools.org/discipline. Students must have parental permission before leaving the summer school grounds. If a student must leave summer school during class for any reason, a parent or legal guardian is required to sign the student out from the summer enrichment school office located at the school site. B. School Safety Tempe Elementary School District is committed to keeping all children safe while they are in our care. Whether they are riding on our buses, playing on our playgrounds or learning in our classrooms, our employees are dedicated to maintaining a healthy and safe environment. Do not come on the school campus in the event of a lockdown, evacuation or other similar activity taking place at school. During a critical event, the primary responsibility of school staff, district staff and emergency responders is to keep the campus and its occupants safe while the situation is resolved. People gathered outside, can themselves be at risk, and may distract us from our primary duty of student safety. Students will be released only after we receive the “all clear” from higher authority. While we can never predict when a critical event may occur, we strive to be ready to take immediate action, use the safety procedures we have established, and protect our students and staff. C. Attendance Good attendance is vital to a child’s academic success. Attending every day and arriving on time allows for a more positive learning environment for all. If it is necessary for your child to be absent, it is very important that you call the summer school absence line or the office staff at your child’s summer school site. D. Medication Students who require medications during the summer school programs must have written parent/guardian permission on a school medication form that is turned in to the nurse. All medication must be provided to the school nurse in the current, original container with prescription label for that student. Important: Medication will NOT be sent to and from school with students. E. Directory Information Notification Student education records are kept in strict confidence by the district’s staff. Personally identifiable information about students will NOT be released or sold for commercial purposes. Please give careful consideration before directing the Summer Enrichment Program to not release “Directory Information.” There are instances in which parent(s) /guardian(s) may desire the disclosure of “directory information.” Please review with your child the Student Disciplinary Handbook located on our website: www.tempeschools.org/discipline.
