Student Schoology Guide Neshannock Township School District We would like to welcome all of our students back to the 2020-2021 school year. To ensure a successful implementation of our learning goals, Junior/Senior High School students will utilize our new learning management system, Schoology. Schoology is an online platform that will allow your teachers to digitally distribute class materials, assignments, and assessments. You will be expected to use Schoology to log your attendance each day you are learning virtually, as well as to access your class materials during the school day. For a productive and successful start to the school year, it is essential that you familiarize yourself with the Schoology learning management system prior to the first day of school. It will be necessary for all students to login to Schoology and utilize its functions beginning September 8, 2020. Please review the topics below by watching each of the instructional videos. To access these videos, click on the “Click Here to Watch Video” buttons below. The materials in this training are subject to change based on the development or revision of District policies and governmental regulations.
Logging On to Schoology Watch the video linked below to learn about logging onto your Schoology account using your existing Neshannock Township School District email. Attendance For virtual learners, an attendance form must be submitted each day via an attendance classroom on the Schoology platform. Attendance Procedure ● 8:15 AM -- virtual attendance form becomes available ● 10:15 AM -- virtual attendance form is DUE
Syncing Your Google Drive with Schoology In order to make sure that you are able to complete all of your assignments, it is critical to allow Schoology access to your Google Drive. Course Pages Schoology provides you with an individual page for each of your courses. Please watch the tutorial below to explore the basic layout and structure of these pages. Course Materials The course materials page is the most important component of Schoology. This page will contain all learning materials, assignments, and tests/quizzes. Viewing Scores & Instructor Feedback in Schoology After grading is completed by your instructor, you will be able to view scores and feedback you have received on assignments and assessments. To learn about how to access this information, please watch the tutorial below. Note: Final grade reporting will continue to be done via GoEdustar. Update Posting & Due Dates Throughout your use of the Schoology platform, it is important that you pay attention to both the updates posted by your instructors, as well as the due dates for the assignments and assessments within your various courses. Schoology App Although it is not a requirement, students may wish to install the Schoology mobile app on their phones and/or tablets. To learn how to install the app and login to your account, watch the video linked below. Important: Some functions of Schoology are limited within the app. Live Sessions For students learning virtually, live sessions will be held during each regularly scheduled class period. Live session attendance is encouraged but not required. Pre-recorded instruction will also be available. To access the live sessions, go to the appropriate Schoology course page and click the green “Click Here to Join” button.
