What is Impact 21? The Impact21 Employment program is a unique 24 month work readiness and personal growth program for adults with Down syndrome and intellectual disability aged from 22 years of age. Through Impact21, you will get a great job that is designed just for you in a national company. You will have the chance to have more social and civic inclusion, greater independence, learn lots of new work skills. Year 1 is university based learning for personal and skill development. Year 2 is on-the-job employment support plus once a week at university to keep you developing. Impact21 will help you to become the best and most professional version of yourself, by helping you work on your skills, emotions, fitness and nutrition, energy, and passions. We believe in learning by doing with real-life work through hands-on practice at university and real work experience in real workplaces. Impact21 has taken its knowledge of intellectual disability and learning, and found what works to get you ready for employment. You will attend university at Torrens University in Melbourne's CBD where many other young people from all over the world also study. You'll experience commuting to the city to be in a workplace, enjoying coffee and lunch with friends, and living life as a professional adult! PAGE | 01

Our Partners These are the employer partners who worked with us from the start, and who are now the proud employers of the first students to graduate from Impact21. There will be more employer partners as the program grows. You may notice these businesses and their logos in your daily life. All of these businesses have lots of employees doing all kinds of tasks to make their work run smoothly. This could be you in 2022! Torrens University Australia and CVGT Australia are our program delivery partners. Torrens University's Flinders Street Campus is the location where much of your learning will take place. CVGT work with us by providing job coaches for work experience and internships as you prepare for work in the employer partner workplaces, and support on-the-job once you start. PAGE | 03
PAGE | 04 What will I learn ? Every person is different; everyone has different work experience, different skills, different passions and dreams. This means that each Impact21 student will join the program with their own needs in their learning and their own way of setting and working towards professional goals. You will need support in some areas more than others. As professional adults, you will learn to manage: thinking while you work with your hands and bodies problem solving fitness and nutrition, and the link between food and its effect on your energy levels for work your work hours, pay, and leave entitlements being social, polite, and friendly at work following instructions from a boss, and working in a team regulating your emotions independently planning your days/weeks with a calendar, and navigating travel plans
What kinds of tasks ? Impact21 will work with you to customise job roles and match you with the right employer and role for you. Below are the kinds of tasks you will try, and which might make up your role at work: Hospitality and Facilities tasks: welcome and escorting guests, setting up meeting rooms, tidying meeting rooms and communal spaces, re-stocking items of stationery, doing rubbish disposal, taking and delivering catering orders, making/serving tea and coffee, maintaining the staff kitchen areas and coffee stations, preparing and making food, setting tables for gatherings and meals, collecting dishes and glasses during/after a function Admin tasks: performing clerical work, completing data entry, sorting and delivering mail, doing print room tasks, shredding confidential materials, scanning and electronic filing, creating staff/student ID cards, taking photos and inventory of the workplace (for maintenance or other), making bookings (for travel, rooms, restaurants, accommodation), stocking stationery Retail tasks: stocking shelves, price tagging and scanning, completing inventory processes, greeting customers, bagging items, customer service, preparing stock and shelves for sales, shop cleaning and tidying, setting up and packing down display stock Manual tasks: setting up work spaces, moving stock and unpacking/stacking boxes, completing outdoor maintenance tasks of grounds and facilities, cleaning and tidying facilities with a range of tools and products Genevieve Rufus, Impact21 Graduate, completed a successful internship with Sodexo in 2019 and is now employed. What does the journey look like in 2021-2022? Now Interest and Application: you let us know you're interested and apply for Impact21 by filling out some forms with your parent/support person, and send a video about yourself. February Discovery: if your application is successful, your Learning Facilitator (teacher) and the Impact21 team will visit you to get to know you, your skills and talents, your dreams and goals. We will set goals together, look at any barriers you might have, and set a plan for your learning and growth. March 21 Launch: you will attend the Launch of the 2021 program with the Impact21 team, your new student peers, families, government ministers, employer partners, and other special guests. March Face-to-Face learning at University: you will start attending university in the city onwards for three days a week (9:30am - 4:00pm), growing as a learning/working adult in a professional setting, gaining new skills and pushing yourself to step into professional adult life. June + July Workplace Orientations: on one uni day per week, you will attend a series of introductions to the workplaces of our employer partners, see what they do, get a tour of their spaces, and meet their teams. You will get to try a few tasks and get a feel for what they do in their business. September - Task Tasters and Job Tasters: you will go in smaller groups (2-4 people) and try a December small range of tasks for longer periods to start to warm up to experiencing the structure of a work shift and feel the pace of work. You will have the chance to try different employer workplaces and different roles. February 2022 Internship: you will be ready to be matched to an employer with a range of tasks that are just right for you. You will work two 5 hour shifts per week for four weeks with a selection of tasks that you are good at. You will continue to come to uni for one day a week. If successful, this is the position you will have in your employment in 2022 and beyond! March 2022 Graduation + Employment: you will be supported as you start your career in a 15 hour per week role!
