What is Impact 21?
The Impact21 Employment program is a unique 24

month work readiness and personal growth

program for adults with Down syndrome and

intellectual disability aged from 22 years of age.

Through Impact21, you will get a great job that is

designed just for you in a national company. You

will have the chance to have more social and civic

inclusion, greater independence, learn lots of new

work skills.

Year 1 is university based learning for personal

and skill development. Year 2 is on-the-job

employment support plus once a week at

university to keep you developing.

Impact21 will help you to become the best and

most professional version of yourself, by helping

you work on your skills, emotions, fitness and

nutrition, energy, and passions.

We believe in learning by doing with real-life work

through hands-on practice at university and real

work experience in real workplaces. Impact21 has

taken its knowledge of intellectual disability and

learning, and found what works to get you ready

for employment.

You will attend university at Torrens University in

Melbourne's CBD where many other young people

from all over the world also study. You'll

experience commuting to the city to be in a

workplace, enjoying coffee and lunch with friends,

and living life as a professional adult!

Our Partners

These are the employer partners who worked with us from the start, and who

are now the proud employers of the first students to graduate from Impact21.
There will be more employer partners as the program grows.

You may notice these businesses and their logos in your daily life. All of these
businesses have lots of employees doing all kinds of tasks to make their work

run smoothly. This could be you in 2022!

Torrens University Australia and CVGT Australia are our program delivery
partners. Torrens University's Flinders Street Campus is the location where
much of your learning will take place. CVGT work with us by providing job
coaches for work experience and internships as you prepare for work in the

employer partner workplaces, and support on-the-job once you start.

                                                                          PAGE | 03

What will I learn ?
Every person is different; everyone has different work experience, different
skills, different passions and dreams. This means that each Impact21 student

will join the program with their own needs in their learning and their own way
of setting and working towards professional goals. You will need support in

some areas more than others.

As professional adults, you will learn to manage:
thinking while you work with your hands and bodies
   problem solving
fitness and nutrition, and the link between food and its effect on your
   energy levels for work
your work hours, pay, and leave entitlements
being social, polite, and friendly at work
following instructions from a boss, and working in a team
   regulating your emotions independently

planning your days/weeks with a calendar, and navigating travel plans
