"Central Hudson will have nearly 900 line and

approximately 770 outage locations on Sunday.
This constitutes the largest number of mutual
aid line workers Central Hudson has acquired in
our history," said Ryan Hawthorne, Vice
President of Electric Engineering and
Operations. "Conditions for Sunday are cold,
but favorable and I believe we’ll make
significant progress in restoring service today
and into the night."

Field crews have so far reported 58 broken poles and more than 2,000 cases of
downed lines. Central Hudson has deployed wire guards to warn motorists and

pedestrians to stay clear of these areas. In addition, representatives are making
door-to-door visits with customers dependent on electrically operated life support
equipment to ensure their well-being.

Central Hudson expects power to be restored to 95 percent of impacted customers in
Sullivan County by 10 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6 and in Ulster County by noon on
Monday, Feb. 7, while the majority will see power restored sooner. More refined
estimated restoration times will be posted as available.

Important Safety Reminders
Keep safety in mind, particularly during power interruptions. Please review the
critical safety tips below about carbon monoxide and fallen wire safety. Also:

    Never use kitchen stoves or outdoor gas or charcoal grills indoors, as they pose
    a fire hazard and over time can give off carbon monoxide gas;
    Beware of fallen trees and limbs, and use caution when traveling;
    Operate cars and motor vehicles outdoors only, and never inside the garage;
    Avoid travel along roadways as hazardous conditions may cause driving
    accidents, including those involving utility poles which may cause power
    interruptions;
    Exercise care when using space heaters by keeping them away from flammable
    materials such as paper or curtains, placing them out of areas of foot traffic,
    and shutting them off when not in use;
    Clear ice that has the potential to fall, particularly near doorways and around
utility meters, and keep meters free of snow by lightly brushing them with a
 broom;
 Keep chimneys and flues clear of ice, snow and other obstructions to prevent
 carbon monoxide from entering the home; and
 Exercise caution when outdoors or avoid spending time outside when possible.

AVOID ALL FALLEN WIRES:

• You can't tell if a power line is energized just by looking at it.
Assume all fallen power lines are live and proceed with extreme caution.

• Do not drive over fallen wires. Always follow the utility personnel
instructions regarding fallen power lines.

• If you see a fallen power line, stay at least 30 feet away from it and
anything it contacts. The ground around a power line and any objects it
contacts may be energized. Call 911 to report fallen wires.

• Do not attempt to move a fallen power line or anything else in contact
with it using an object such as a broom or stick. Even non-conductive
materials like wood or cloth can conduct electricity if even slightly wet.

CARBON MONOXIDE& GENERATOR SAFETY:

• NEVER operate a generator in an enclosed space, including your basement
or garage. Doing so can lead to a potentially lethal build-up of colorless,
odorless, poisonous carbon monoxide.

• Only have an experienced electrician connect a generator to your home.
Improperly installed generators may overload circuits, cause a fire or shock
hazard, and can result in serious injury or property damage. Improperly
installed generators can also back-feed onto electric lines and endanger
repair crews working to restore service.

• Plug appliances directly into the generator using a heavy-duty, outdoor-
rated extension cord that is designed to handle the wattage of all the
appliances being connected.
