Status of the BI Work Package in the LIU-ION frame L. Søby On behalf of: G. Baud, M. Bozzolan, O. Marqversen, F. Guillot-Vignot, R. Roncarola, R. Ruffieux, B. Moser Colleagues from BE-ML, TE-VSC, TE-MME
Outline • Active deliverables: • ITFS Faraday cup • ETL SEM-grids • ITL-ITM SEM-grids • Injection line BPMs • Update on LEIR Orbit system • EVM data from S. Prodon BE-BI LIU-ION review 12-03-2018 2
L3 instrumentation SEM and FC, WU 162706 Code: 64050, until 03-2018. ITFS FC − Manufactured, − installation foreseen mid March − Poor documentation generated small delays − Budget: 20kCHF,OK ETL SEM-grids electronics: − Linear amplifier for injection (ADC sampling 4us), Integrator for extraction − All cards tested in the lab and installed in LEIR − Ready for commissioning − Budget: 10kCHF,OK ITL and ITM SEM-grids − Delays related to poor documentation, workload and sickness of key person for ceramic serigraphy − Final design completed and manufacturing ongoing. Sick person came in 1 day to do the job − Old detectors have been re-installed − Change to new detectors possible during 1 day oven refill ~end of March? − Will produce 4 operational cards + 4-5 spares − Budget 10kCHF,OK 3 BE-BI LIU-ION review 12-03-2018
LEIR Injection line BPMs, WU 174861 Code: 64053 All BPMs installed − 2 BPMs in EI line still not under vacuum − ETL line BPMs (5), baked out and tested with calibration signals − Cables pulled for repelling voltages and magnets Secondary's: − Intensive simulations and measurements done − Physics ~understood − BPM1 with dipole magnet, still need to verify effectiveness in second plane, BPM2 with solenoid − All BPMs with repelling voltages Improved EMI suppression in tunnel FESA class operational Acquisition system in control room still to be cabled Budget: 30kCHF 2018 for secondary electrons / ions, OK 4 BE-BI LIU-ION review 12-03-2018
LEIR orbit system Stdev orbit: new system (red)-old system(blue) Average orbit: new system (red)-old system(blue) Much better stability of the orbit readings Hor. position (mm) Hor. stdev (mm) Ver. position (mm) Ver. stdev (mm) Early beam at “1000ms” Averaged over 42 cycles • Trajectory: • Struggling since November with latch up of GPT link for Sushi train (inter card link) − Versioning of VHDL modules was not clear, and back tracking was slow. − Change of firmware in RF group • Positive collaboration with J. Mollendijk (BE-RF) to solve these issues • Blocked the debugging of the trajectory firmware • Problem now “solved”, with the possibility of detecting and resetting of latched PLL • Aim to have new orbit and trajectory firmware operational beginning of April • FESA class upgrade needed (auto addressing of memory maps + trajectory) BE-BI LIU-ION review 12-03-2018 5
