Early Childhood Preschool Supervisors' Meeting: These sessions provide preschool supervisors with special education updates, special speakers related to relevant topics and time for networking. PBIS PBIS Leadership Network (PLN): This Regional PBIS Leadership Network is intended for building and district leaders who are already implementing PBIS. Participants are to attend quarterly network meetings to support the implementation and sustainability of the PBIS Framework. The agenda will include time to network with other schools, ask questions and gain more information/resources about PBIS in grade-band specific meetings. Dates: January 12, 2022 and April 5, 2022 Location: Virtual Time: 9:00-11:30 Audience: PBIS Building and District Leaders January April PBIS Train the Trainer: This THREE DAY in-person series is offered to K-12 licensed educators to be certified as a train-the-trainer of Positive Based Intervention. PBIS is a framework, system, or approach for assisting school personnel in adopting and organizing evidence-based behavioral interventions into an integrated continuum that enhances academic and social behavior outcomes for all students. PBIS is not a packaged curriculum, scripted intervention, or manualized strategy. PBIS is a prevention-oriented way for school personnel to (a) organize evidence-based practices, (b) improve their implementation of those practices, and (C) academic and social behavior outcomes for students. PBIS supports the success of all students. PBIS PBIS Tier II: PBIS Tier II training is for schools that have implemented School-Wide PBIS Tier I and through the use of data have identified small groups of students who are not responding to the Tier I strategies. Tier II training will consist of the following: Completing a Functional Behavior Assessment, exploring various Tier II strategies including Check-in/Check-out, the Check & Connect Student Engagement Model, Social Skills Intervention Groups, Academic Instructional Groups, as well as other research-based strategies proven effective for students with persistent behavioral challenges. School Improvement SST 12 Instructional Leadership Symposium: This symposium will provide a common platform for principals, curriculum directors, superintendents, and special education directors to obtain information and discuss strategies for supporting instructional leadership. The symposium will vary from session to session and may include legal/legislative updates, professional speakers on educational leadership, current best practices from our region, and networking opportunities. Literacy Emergent Literacy Birth to Age 5-Laying the Foundation for Literacy Success: Emergent Literacy is a child's knowledge of reading and writing skills before they learn how to read and write words. This three-part series focuses on the research that supports learning literacy begins at a very early age. Part 1-Introduction to Emergent Literacy & Teaching Early Phonological Awareness; Part 2-Developing Oral Language and Vocabulary for Emergent Literacy; Part 3-Building Print Awareness Through Interactive Read-Alouds. Literacy Regional Literacy Leaders Network: This virtual network will facilitate dialogue and deepen discussion related to literacy as it pertains to state updates, research, and the exchange of information specific to the needs and interests of the region. We will discuss dyslexia legislation through the context of structured literacy. Dover City Schools will share programs and practices they are using to support structured literacy. Exceptional Learners How to Create and Deliver Specially Designed Instruction for the Inclusive Classroom: Inclusion can work! However, for inclusion to be successful, special education teachers must bring specially designed instruction (SDI) into the classroom. In this professional development you will gain practical ideas for creating and implementing SDI, for engaging students with more complex needs, and for accommodating and modifying. This virtual session will be packed with research-based strategies that enhance student learning and can be implemented immediately. Dr. Anne Beninghof, will share inclusive lesson plans, show video clips and provide participants with interactive experiences. This two-day virtual session with Dr. Anne Beninghof will provide team participants with clear descriptions of the best co- teaching models for mixed-ability classrooms, practical ways for defining roles, planning for and providing instruction based on high standards, and tips for maximizing the value of each team member. Exceptional Learners Supporting Complex and Intensive Disabilities Network: The regional network is intended for special educators supporting students with complex and intensive disabilities including students with significant cognitive disabilities as well as rare and low incidence disabilities. Participants will become familiar with resources and tools used to ensure students with intensive needs have access to appropriate learning environments and educational programs. Sessions will be followed by opportunities for participants to discuss strategies and share learning experiences. Exceptional Learners Alternate Assessment Open Office Hours: These sessions targets new test administrators or individuals needing a refresher, following the completion of the online certification modules. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the online module, Alternate Assessment for Significant Cognitive Disorder (AASCD) test administration and other related questions. Any updates released by The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) regarding the AASCD for 2021-2022 will be provided. This time will be spent discussing needs of professional learning in districts, collaborating around what has worked in areas of the region, receiving updates from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), and investigating evidence-based practices in the area of secondary transition.
