Welcome to Rathbarry & Glenview Studs 2021 Dear Breeders, 2020 has been a year like no other and Coronavirus continues to disrupt so much of what we once considered normal. Fortunately, the 2020 covering season was able to proceed in line with government guidelines and, up to the time of writing, all National Hunt Store Sales, the Breeze Up and the majority of the Flat Yearling Sales have taken place. We hope that the 2021 season can also proceed without excessive disruption. Going forward it would seem that now more than ever breeders will need to focus on quality and value when considering their 2021 mating plans and we hope that the contents of this brochure will be of assistance to you in this regard. In a curtailed racing year ACCLAMATION’S progeny had another successful year with twelve individual Group or Stakes performers. Furthermore, he has consolidated his growing reputation as a successful sire of sires with his latest freshman stallion, Mehmas, well on top in all categories of the First Season Sires Table. 2020 was always going to be a very competitive year for First Season Flat Sires in GB & Ireland as over 30 horses retired to stud in 2017. Therefore it is a remarkable achievement for KODI BEAR to be lying in second place by number of individual winners, races won and prize money earned at the beginning of November. His stock has inherited their sire’s size and scope and with the support he has received from breeders every year, it augers well for his future stallion success. The team at Rathbarry began 2020 with a great sense of anticipation in preparation for the arrival of the first foals by the beautifully bred JAMES GARFIELD and I am delighted to say they have not disappointed. The foals we have seen are well balanced individuals with a loose athletic walk, which bodes well for breeders selling his progeny at the forthcoming sales. Once again we would like to assure mare owners that TAGULA is fresh and well and he will be available again in 2021 to cover a restricted book of mares. Rathbarry Stud’s original reputation was based on its National Hunt Stallions and this tradition has been proudly maintained at Glenview Stud. Considering the success of BLUE BRESIL’S progeny on the racetrack and in the sales ring, it was no surprise how popular he proved to be with the breeders upon his arrival, covering a full book of high quality mares in 2020. We look forward to seeing the first Glenview crop by MALINAS, rising 4 y-o’s in 2021, appearing on the racecourse during the year. We are confident that they will continue to build on the promise of his previous British and French bred progeny such as Mister Malarky, Mighty Thunder, Medinas, Harambe, Union Dues etc. SHOLOKHOV and SHIROCCO’s first Irish crops have certainly caught the eye on the racecourse, included amongst them multiple Graded Winners as well as Supreme Novice Hurdle Champion Shiskin etc. With each horse having covered quality books of mares at Glenview Stud every year, they will have no shortage of well bred runners on the track for the future. Since his arrival at Glenview Stud in 2018, YOUMZAIN has been very well supported by breeders covering quality books of mares each season. His supporters have been delighted with the excellent quality and confirmation of his foals, which was reflected in their prices at the sales. Finally, we have an exciting addition to our National Hunt Roster for 2021, OLD PERSIAN. This beautifully bred son of Dubawi was the winner at 2, 3 & 4 years of 6 Stakes Races and nearly 4 million euros. Described by Timeform as “A big strong colt; very smart performer”, he possesses all the attributes which National Hunt breeders demand for their mares. On behalf of the team at Rathbarry & Glenview, we would like to thank all our clients for their continued support, and we wish you a safe and successful breeding and racing season in 2021. The Cashman Family

Sire of 2019 French Champion 4YO Hurdler Considering the success of Blue Bresil’s progeny on the racetrack and in the sales ring it was no surprise how popular he proved to be with breeders upon his arrival to Glenview Stud covering a full book of mares in 2020. The 2019 French Champion Four-Year-Old Hurdler L’Autonomie continues to mirror the rising star status of her sire Blue Bresil, for whom she became a second Grade 1 winner in 2019. The Grade 1 Prix Renaud du Vivier was one of six Graded contests won by the topnotch mare in an unbeaten 2019/2020 season. Upon her return in the 2020/2021season normal service resumed where she won a further Graded contest followed by finishing a close second in the Grade 1 Grande Course de Haies d’Auteuil. The 2019/20 season also saw Saint Goustan Blue the four-time Grade 3 hurdle and chase winner gain his ninth black-type success when taking the Prix Dawn Run for D Bressou. Closer to home, the £170,000 point-to-point purchase Big Bresil ended his campaign with a stylish hurdle debut, while fellow Monbeg Stables graduate Smurphy Enki won his rules debut by all of 18 lengths. Following their success with the progeny of Blue Bresil, Monbeg Stables reinvested at the 2020 store sales; going to €80,000 and €62,000 for a pair of geldings from Liss House at the Derby Sale. Whilst Mouse Morris’s €280,000 French recruit Indiana Jones made an impressive winning Irish debut when racing clear to win a maiden hurdle in Cork. Bright Prospects With the first Glenview crop by Malinas turning four in 2021, we eagerly anticipate his first Irish bred runners. Malinas joined Glenview Stud from Yorton Farm, and his first British crops built on his French progeny’s promise; as demonstrated by Colin Tizzard’s dual Graded Chase winner Mister Malarky. The Grand National has been mentioned more than once for the seven-year- old, with Tizzard earmarking the Ladbrokes Trophy and Sodexo Gold Cup as potential targets en-route. A potentially exciting chaser this season is the Lucinda Russell-trained Mighty Thunder, who won his first start over fences by all of 41 lengths. Greatwood Hurdle victor Harambe hails from the same 2013 crop and according to Alan King, will attempt to land back-to-back editions of the Cheltenham Grade 3. The progressive Dalkingstown a dual point-to point winner and a bumper winner last season made a successful return to three miles on his hurdle debut in October, when shaping like a useful staying type. Corrieben Reiver was another bumper winner to score on his first start over hurdles last season and it will be interesting to see what Alistair Whillan’s charge does next. Llandinabo Lad also entered the notebooks when returning a commanding winner of a novice hurdle in October, having boasted strong form in bumpers. Fellow five-year- old Flying Sara, an unbeaten dual bumper winner is touted to step up in class after her impressive victory at Chepstow. Enemy Coast Ahead also boasts a fine record, having completed a hat-trick for Olly Murphy and the McNeill Family, most recently racing 20 lengths clear at Uttoxeter. The six year old has never finished out of the first two. 14

Exciting New Addition for 2021 Top-class middle distance horse Old Persian is the latest exciting addition to the Glenview Stud roster for the 2021 season. Having won twice at two over a mile, Old Persian made giant strides during his three year old campaign when he won the Listed Fairway Stakes over a mile and 2 furlongs and Group 2 contests King Edward VIII Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York over a mile and a half. The beautifully-bred son of Dubawi confirmed himself a class performer over a mile and a half as a four-year-old when taking the Group 2 Dubai City of Gold Stakes at Meydan followed by the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan and the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine, collecting third in the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Berlin in between. Described by Timeform as “A big strong colt; very smart performer,” he retired with an impressive record of 6 Stakes wins and nearly €4 million in prize money. Old Persian is one of two Stakes horses out of Indian Petal; a daughter of leading broodmare sire Singspiel and a full-sister to Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes heroine Silkwood. He hails from the top-class family of Kingmambo, Alpha Centauri, Alpine Star, Miesque and East Of The Moon. He is by Dubawai the sire of multiple Gr.1 Winners under both codes including the Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival Chase winner Dodging Bullets and the Grade 1 Punchestown Festival winner Hisaabat. Upon announcing Glenview Stud’s new addition, Paul Cashman said, “Old Persian is an outstanding-looking individual with plenty of size and substance and will be an exciting prospect for National Hunt breeders.” 16

A Bumper Year As Shirocco’s first Glenview-bred crop turned five in 2020, they delivered on the exciting promise which his flat bred progeny had shown on the switch to obstacles. Annie Power was a brilliant flagbearer for the possibilities that lay ahead for Shirocco and comparisons were made with Shewearsitwell after she, too, won a Galway bumper impressively on debut. The Willie Mullins- trained five-year-old has gone on to extend her unbeaten record to three, most recently racing eight lengths clear in the Grade 3 Joe Mac Novice Hurdle; after which her trainer mentioned the Royal Bond as a possible aim. Gordon Elliott has another talented daughter in Queens Brook, who was bought for £160,000 after winning a four-year-old maiden for Aidan Fitzgerald. She went on to win her bumper by 21 lengths and took third in the Grade 1 Cheltenham Bumper, before making a successful start to her hurdle career, followed by finishing a close second in a Gr.3 Novice Hurdle in Down Royal. Chris Gordon, meanwhile, will be looking forward to the 2020/2021 season with Highway One O Two, who maintained his unbeaten record over hurdles in the Grade 2 Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle at Kempton. Shirocco’s first Glenview crops have shown so much promise between the flags, making him the second leading living sire of 2019’s point-to-point sales. His popularity continued at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival Sale, when Donnchadh Doyle’s Borris House winner Shirocco’s Dream sold for £260,000 to Peter and Ross Doyle with Colin Tizzard, and Michael Goff’s Patroclus fetched £150,000 from Highflyer Bloodstock. Patroclus is now in training with Nick Henderson who has described him as being 'a powerful, striking future chaser'. 18

Coming of Age Sholokhov’s Glenview Stud crops have signalled a coming of age for the son of Sadler’s Wells, best demonstrated by this year’s Grade 1 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle victor Shishkin. Foaled and raised at Rathbarry Stud on behalf of breeder Clive Bennett and his late wife Eileen, Nicky Henderson’s superstar hails from Sholokhov’s very first Irish foal crop and first caught the eye winning a four-year-old maiden impressively for Virginia Considine. Subsequently sold for £170,000, the now six- year-old was a decisive 8 length winner of his bumper debut at Kempton. He soon completed a hat-trick of hurdle wins culminating in his scintillating victory in the Grade 1 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Among Sholokhov’s other exciting representatives is unbeaten five-year-old Bob Olinger; a 15 length winner of a four-year- old maiden point to point on debut at Turtulla, before winning his sole bumper start by 10 lengths in March. French breeders have continued to support Sholokhov since his move to Ireland and among the rewarded is Stephane Milaveau, who bred talented three-year-old Heros D’Ainay- a 12 length winner of the Listed Prix Go Ahead Hurdle at Auteuil on debut. At the time of writing in late October, trainers are beginning to unveil their young recruits and among the promising early performances are Red Maple and Seelotmorebusiness both successful on their bumper debuts for their respective trainers Jonjo O’Neill and Paul Nicholls. Nicky Henderson, meanwhile, sent SHISHKIN Supreme Novice's Hurdle Champion Sunrise Ruby to win her seasonal return by 22 lengths, later making it two wins in a Novice 'Everything conspired against him today but he Hurdle at Kempton. Whilst Jessica Harrington’s managed to find a way and that's what champions Crosshill was an impressive 11 length winner of tend to do... He is so talented this horse. Eye to the Future Described by The Irish Field’s Leo Powell ‘ as one of the most versatile stallions at stud’ it came as no surprise that the first Irish crop of Youmzain were well received at the 2019 sales, where they found favour with some of the shrewdest judges in the Bloodstock Industry. There has been great feedback from breeders who are very impressed with the excellent quality and confirmation of his progeny. As a result Youmzain, a half-brother to Creachadoir, has been well supported since his arrival to Glenview Stud in 2018 covering quality books of mares each season. Amongst matings of note in 2020 were the half-sisters to Grade 1 winners Rebel Fitz and Tranquil Sea; Graded chase performer Chicago Vic and a dual winning daughter of three-time Grade 1 Cleeve Hurdle heroine Lady Rebecca. Youmzain’s very first crop yielded a Group 1 winner on the flat, and in recent years, his eldest progeny have begun to make a mark in the national hunt sphere. Ill-fated Grade 2 Hurdle winner and Grade 1 Hurdle performer Saglawy was an early flagbearer for the possibilities that lay ahead. Ben Pauling’s Listed hurdle winner Delire D’Estruval has transferred his talent to chasing and ended his 2019/2020 campaign with a win in the Silver Bowl Chase at Kempton in March. The Guillaume Macaire-trained God’s Star is another one to watch over fences, having recently won her chase debut by eight and a half lengths, adding to previous success over hurdles. The 2019/2020 season saw fellow five- year-old La Doix a dual chase winner at three and an 11 length hurdle winner at four make a successful return over hurdles for Francois Nicolle, landing a Listed contest at Auteuil in May, before finishing third in a Grade 3. 22
