ImerCare® PerlWhite 19 is a perlite- based product that has been specifically engineered to optimise its particle size and shape, making it an ideal gentle abrasive for toothpaste. Toothpaste containing PerlWhite 19 cleans and polishes the surface of the teeth without scratching, minimising damage to enamel and dentin. ImerCare® PerlWhite 19’s efficiency is due to its optimised particle size distribution and unique particle shape. Due to its inertness, ImerCare® PerlWhite 19 is compatible with other toothpaste ingredients and particularly therapeutic agents such as fluoride. Cleaning and polishing performance of ImerCare® PerlWhite 19 in a silica based toothpaste formulation ImerCare® PerlWhite 19 was tested in conjunction with a synthetic silica in a typical whitening toothpaste formulation. The formulation containing 2% ImerCare® PerlWhite 19 and synthetic silica showed better cleaning and polishing performance compared with the reference formulation containing only synthetic silica (Pellicle Cleaning Ratio: +3%, Enamel Polishing Potential: +30%). Relative Dentin Abrasion values (-10%) demonstrated that the toothpaste with PerlWhite 19 is less damaging in terms of dentin wear than the reference.
