A link can be found on the parish website and Facebook on Tuesday. This week we will be praying the Joyful Mysteries. POPE FRANCIS’S PRAYER TO MARY DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen. THE POPE’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR THE MONTH OF MAY The world of finance: Let us pray that those in charge of finance will work with governments to regulate the financial sphere and protect citizens from its dangers. Pope Francis is requesting that during this month of May, particularly dedicated to Our Lady, the entire Church invoke the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the end of the pandemic and, in a special way, he is inviting all to pray fervently for those most closely affected by it. During each day of May, guided by a calendar with specific intentions [at the link above], all the Shrines around the world, united in a communion of supplication, through the prayer of the Rosary, will intercede for an end to the pandemic. Thirty Marian Shrines have been entrusted in leading the daily prayer intentions and will take turns leading this prayer throughout the Church while offering the faithful a series of prayer moments for them to participate throughout the entire day. Among the Marian shines chosen is that of Notre-Dame-du-Cap, in Trois-Rivières (Québec). The Holy Father will open and close the month of prayer, on the first and last day of the month. The initiative is inspired from the biblical passage, “from the whole Church unceasingly ascended prayer to God” (Acts 12:5). The Pontifical Council also informs that the daily prayers will be live broadcast through the official online channels of the Holy See. Further details are available on the Pontifical Council’s website (http://www.pcpne.va/content/pcpne/en.html). Jesus, Mary, and Joseph help my family to be a place where the stranger is welcomed, where the poor are fed, and where the lonely find comfort. In imitation of your loving example may we be empowered by the Holy Spirit to live as the domestic church radiating the presence of Jesus and giving glory to God our Father. Amen Suggested Events and Activities at Home • Print out the prayer cards downloadable from the Week’s website page www.cccb.ca • Take some time as a family either after supper or before going to bed to share what God has done in your life. Digital Resources: • At the 2018 World Meeting of Families in Dublin, Pope Francis quoted the Irish-American, Fr. Patrick Peyton’s famous saying: “The family that prays together, stays together.” The Pope has also reminded parents to teach their children the faith beginning with simple things like making the sign of the Cross and praying,--the Our Father, and the Hail Mary. What better way to do so than by teaching children how to pray the rosary? A scriptural rosary from the Knights of Columbus is available on line here: https://www.kofc.org/en/resources/cis/cis319.pdf.
