Kindergarten Service Leader "We must exercise the greatest care of the young" ~Martin Luther~ I would like to introduce myself, my name is Jacqueline Heath, I have been with St James Kindergarten since 2017. I have been in the Early Childhood sector since 2006 and enjoyed many roles, from trainee to director. I am passionate about children learning in a play based, inclusive educational environment that supports children’s individual needs, where the rights and opinions of each child are respected. I believe that children are competent, capable learners who are natural thinkers with the ability to continually learn and investigate throughout their individual learning journeys. I am looking forward to meeting you and learning along side you and your children. Blessings – Jacqueline Heath

Our Vision and Philosophy Vision Statement: To provide high quality, child centered care within a Christian environment; embedding the values of the Lutheran church; Love, Justice, Compassion, Forgiveness, Service, Courage, Humility, Hope, Appreciation and Quality. Philosophy: Our Kindergarten is a play based, inclusive educational environment that supports children’s individual needs, Where the rights and opinions of each child are respected. We believe that children are competent, capable learners who are natural thinkers with the ability to continually learn and investigate throughout their individual learning journeys. Educators provide warm, secure and trusting relationships with each child, this allows children to build a sense of security and provides an environment to develop meaningful relationships. Within this environment, children are able to learn and grow. (QA.5 - Urie Bronfenbrenner) Bonds and traditions of each families culture are valued and their commitment to working in partnership with our educational team for the dreams of their children. Teachers share a collaborative approach to learning with the children as they intentional teach and learn along-side the children, extending children’s learning. We believe learning should be playful, fun, exciting, spontaneous, hands-on, stimulating, relaxing, comforting and challenging. The environment is ever changing and used as the third teacher to adapt to the children’s interests and to allow the children to have agency within their environment and learning. We encourage children to be good citizens with strong Christian values. We endeavour to provide calm and natural learning spaces to scaffold children’s love and learning of nature and God’s creations. At St James Lutheran Kindergarten, we have a holistic approach to learning by which children become co- learners amongst their peers. Educator’s will guide the children’s learning and provoke inquiry, questioning, creativity and imagination through intentional teaching. We aim to achieve a sense of wonder for feeling, belonging, and love of the land, nature and animals, so that young children will develop positive lifelong respectful and proactive attitudes to our environment and a sustainable future.

Important Kindy Jobs The following jobs are for your child to complete Encourage your child to walk into the Kindy, carrying their own bag. Encourage your child to put their own belongings away, lunch box, water bottle, sheets, bag in the locker, hat on their heads and apply their sunscreen. This helps to develop self help skills and independence.
Farewells in the mornings If your child is upset in the morning and doesn’t want to say goodbye please know we are here to help through this very fleeting bout of sadness. Transition times from home to Kindy can be hard on everyone but no child is left alone to be sad and if you need our support when you want to go please, just ask. We have some print outs available to help support you and your child at separation times. Becoming familiar with the environment can help children separate so please fill in the sheet for a play date before term one starts.
Meals We are a nut free service. Please provide your child with at least two options for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. We encourage children to make healthy choices. We cannot heat food. Name your child’s lunch box and drink bottle. If your child will be at Kindy for a longer day please pack some additional food. Practise opening and closing containers, drink bottle and lunch boxes.
