GETTING HERE The theatre is located in the main square of Dundrum Town Centre, outside by the Mill Pond and restaurants. Luas: Green line from St Stephen’s Green to Dundrum (it takes approx. 20 minutes from St. Stephen’s Green) You can also get off at Balally and walk through Dundrum Town Centre. Bus: 14, 17, 44, 75 Car from M50: Exit at junction 13, follow the signs for Dundrum Town Centre/ Green car park. Car from Dublin City: Follow the N11 to junction with Fosters Avenue. Turn right and follow R112 until junction with Taney Road. Turn Left and make another left at the first traffic signals onto R117 and follow the road into Dundrum. PARKING The most convenient place to park is the Green Car Park of the shopping centre. This may be accessed from Ballinteer Road and the Dundrum Bypass. Parking Rates: 8am - 6pm: 23 for the first hour, and the 2nd and 3rd hours are free, 23 per every hour after the 3rd hour until 6pm. 6pm - 11pm: 23 flat rate. 11pm - 8am: Free parking. This performance/demonstration talk will introduce audiences to the key elements of noh and to have a close up and interactive experience of how a new noh is developed from ‘page to stage’. Michael James Flaherty the local publican takes a shine to him, and his daughter Pegeen Mike finds his company preferable to that of her dull fiancée, Shawn Keogh. However it transpires that Christy’s father is not dead afterall, when Old Mahon arrives with a gaping head wound, searching for his ungrateful son. 7

lecture/talk comedy Feb Between Fri 8th 7.30pm the Stones Auditorium (Phase 2) Performance Demonstration Lecture Tickets E14 / E12 Getting to noh from ‘page to stage’ ‘Noh’ is classical Japanese theatre which combines dance, drama, music, poetic text, exquisite costumes and masks into a highly aesthetic form of art that has been performed continuously for 650 years. This performance demonstration talk is designed to introduce audiences to the key elements of noh and to have a close up and interactive xperience of how a new noh is developed from ‘page to stage’. The focus of the new noh, Between the Stones, is ‘from tragic loss to peace’. It explores how the burden of grief turns into an understanding and celebration of life, death, beauty and love; and the transformative power of gardens to nurture and heal the soul… It also uniquely brings together three Japanese cultural forms – noh, karesansui gardens and furin (wind chimes). The professional noh actor, Kinue Oshima, the composer, Richard Emmert, and the author of this new two-act English language noh drama, Jannette Cheong, will share key aspects of how this new noh will be transformed from the poetic text to the stage production using traditional noh techniques. 12
local arts/comedy comedy Loophole Feb Sat 9th L 8pm Auditorium Tickets E15 / E12 Although not quite the traditional comedy we are familiar with, this play covers with great mirth, the changing face of modern Ireland. But change does not come easy. A miserable farmer has 6 months to live and decides to leave his sizeable farm to his more miserable best friend. The complications that arise from that decision creates this unique comedy. Undoubtedly a very funny play and 2 expertly acted out by all the cast. The play is written by Ballyconnell writer John McManus and the “Acorn Players” are the only troupe to perform this new production. local arts/comedy Rathmines & Rathgar Feb Musical Society Tues 12th - Sat 16th L 8pm Auditorium Tickets From E18 The R&R makes a welcome return to The Mill Theatre this spring with the hilarious farce comedy Don’t Dress For Dinner. Based on the original French production of Pyjama Pour Six, Robin Hawdon adapted the play for English-speaking audiences which opened on The West End in 1991 playing to packed houses and critical acclaim. During its original run, one reviewer for The Guardian put it “Hurtling along at the speed of light, Marc Canoletti’s breathtaking farce is a near faultless piece of theatrical invention. Within seconds we are drawn into a delicious web of marital treachery which accelerates with classic symmetry to an all-star denouement…” 13
comedy Chris Kent Y/ L Feb Sat 16th 8pm Studio Tickets E12 Cork comedian Chris Kent returns with his 6thsolo show Looking Up. Chris has spent the past year balancing comedy with being a stay at home dad and trying to grow a beard. He has also removed the word “mate” from his vocabulary as it takes too much effort to say in an Irish accent. T.V. appearances include the RTÉ 2 panel show Next Year’s News, The Craig Doyle Show and Conor’s Dad in the hit series The Young Offenders. In the UK, he has appeared on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central for Comedy Central. local arts/drama Great Expectations by Charles Dickens Feb Tues 19th - Sat 23rd L 8pm Auditorium Tickets E16 / E14 Balally Players Theatre Co. presents... Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Adapted by Jo Clifford. Directed by Brian Molloy. A beautifully simple adaptation of one of Dickens’s best-loved novels, bringing it thrillingly to life for the stage. When the orphan Pip meets the convict Magwitch in a graveyard and is forced to help him escape, his life takes a series of unexpected turns. Invited to the house of the mysterious Miss Havisham, he falls in love with her adopted daughter, the beautiful but cold-hearted Estella. Then the generosity of an unknown benefactor sends him to London to become a gentleman. But the truth behind his change of fortune, once revealed, is not what Pip expects... 14

David O’Doherty is back in Dundrum with a brand-new show made up of talking and songs played on a crappy keyboard from 1986. As seen on BBC2’s Live At The Apollo and Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown. live music Legend of Luke Kelly Mar Sat 9th 8pm Auditorium Tickets E20 / E18 Celebrating the memory and music of a true Irish musical legend. Dublin singer/ songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist Chris Kavanagh was raised on Irish music and has been singing Irish folk songs since he was three years old. His performances capture the depth and passion of the great man he was so heavily influenced by. Over the past sixteen years he has amazed audiences abroad and has sold out prominent Irish venues such as Vicar Street & The Cork Opera House, with the regular attendance of Luke Kelly’s family. Chris released his own album of original material “Voice Of The People” in 2011 and shortly afterwards performed with The Dubliners for two weeks on their German tour. He is joined on stage by Hilary Kavanagh (singer/songwriter/ bass player), Joe Finn (Uilleann pipes/Flute/Whistles/Fiddle) & Michael Howard (Guitarist / Singer/songwriter) 16
