One of those initiatives is the role of “Roving Ambassador”. This is simply an alternative method of providing visitor information and services to people by going to them rather than them just coming to us at our Visitor Centre, hence the name “Roving Ambassador”. We’re inviting people to volunteer to offer their knowledge and expertise to act as Roving Ambassadors at major local events, with the next one being our information booth at the MG Car Club National Meeting in March and then Tastrofest in August. You need to demonstrate the following attributes: Friendly, Personable, Approachable, Confident, A good listener, Able to use or willing to undertake training to use an IPad/Tablet to source visitor information, Have a good knowledge of the Central Coast and surrounding region. The role of “Roving Ambassador” has achieved many benefits for our community and our visitors, including: • Ensuring our visitors have a wonderful experience and tell people about the Central Coast • Customer focused and commitment to providing wonderful service • A perception by the community and our visitors of our innovative approach and trying new things And for our volunteers the opportunity: • An opportunity to be more actively involved in providing visitor services. • An opportunity to try something a bit different. • To interact with all sorts of different people from Central Coast, our State, nationally and internationally. • To get out and about and enjoy fresh air and sunshine. If you are interested in becoming a “Roving Ambassador” or have any questions, please contact Susanne Clear on 6425 2839 or via email at Susanne.clear@centralcoast.tas.gov.au ROOSTER DAY The Ulverstone Poultry club will be trialling a rooster day as a community service. Anyone that has unwanted roosters are welcome to bring them along to the poultry pavilion on the showgrounds in Flora Street, West Ulverstone (just inside the entrance near the railway line and hardware store). We ask that they be free of disease and people can pop them in a show pen. The club will either re-home them or or humanely put them down. This service will be provided for a gold coin donation per bird to help raise funds for the Ulverstone Poultry Club. You are welcome to remain anonymous and a donation box will be set up for your convenience. We will run this service on the Sunday morning straight after our open show on the Saturday and again in August on the Sunday straight after our annual show. So, the first rooster day will be Sunday 29th April commencing at 9am through to 10am and again on Sunday 12th August 9am through to 10am. If this service to the community proves successful it will become an ongoing event. Any queries please contact Ainslee Simpson phone 040 943 9737 or Jill Weaver 042 813 8973. Sat 24 Earth Hour 2018 – Switch off for the Places We Love in 2016, 8.30am to 9.30pm. One of the things that makes Australia so great is the beautiful outdoor lifestyle we live. From beaches, rainforests and rivers, to snow-capped mountains, coral reefs and lakes, we have one of the most beautiful countries in the world. But the healthy, outdoors lifestyle we enjoy is under threat from rising temperatures and more extreme weather caused by carbon pollution - it only takes a small change in the climate to mess up the delicate balance of nature. That’s why in 2016, we’ll be switching off to protect the Places We Love! For more information on Earth Hour and to find 8
