2019 SUMMER SOLSTICE JAZZ FESTIVAL EAST LANSING sponsor guide THE SUMMER SOLSTICE JAZZ FESTIVAL IS PRESENTED BY THE CITY OF EAST LANSING AND MSU COLLEGE OF MUSIC
WELCOME 2019 brings the 23rd Summer Solstice Jazz Festival (SSJF) to the heart of downtown East Lansing. The festival has seen many changes over its long legacy. It started as a one-day festival in 1996. It’s moved locations three times from MSU’s campus to Ann Street Plaza to its current location at 139 Bailey St. It has seen countless board members and a few different coordinators, but through it all it has maintained its integrity and original mission: to deliver the best in what jazz has to offer locally, regionally and, sometimes, even nationally to the community. The ability for the SSJF to maintain its long-standing commitment to excellence is due, in large part, to its supporters, like YOU! The festival is fully funded by sponsorships, donations and grants. Your donation or sponsorship allows us to advertise across the state of Michigan in various venues, to have quality sound and lighting, to pay two part-time staff members and perhaps, most importantly, your donation allows us to bring in quality performers AND pay them a fair wage. Summer Solstice Jazz The SSJF Advisory Board would like to thank you in advance for your generosity and support of the festival. The 2019 festival Festival Advisory Board planning is already well underway, with a few surprises up our sleeves. We can’t wait to share them with you! Robert F. Banks Al Cafagna Mike Eyia Gregg Hill Ken Jones John Loose Lois Mummaw Carolyn Ojala Barbara Sawyer-Koch Rodney Whitaker Gary Wood
