This will allow for social distancing and reduce the amount of contact we have with members of the public if necessary. We have also reduced the number of spaces on each Sense Holiday to cap the number of people in each holiday group. Sense Holidays will adhere to government guidelines and organisational best practices leading up to and at the time of the holiday. We will keep all holidaymakers and their families fully up to date with our plans to ensure everyone’s safety whilst on a Sense Holiday. 3
Why choose a Sense Holiday? Each holiday is managed by one or more of our experienced Sense Holiday Leaders. They have a specialist understanding of how to provide personalised group holidays for people who are deafblind and may have additional needs. Leaders will work closely with holidaymakers and their parents/carers to create a holiday that is right for the individual. This leads to a memorable and enjoyable holiday for each and every person. Sense has considerable experience of providing volunteer-led services and creating a safe environment where holidaymakers and volunteers build relationships, explore new environments and step outside of their comfort zone. We visit all new holiday venues to ensure they meet the needs of our groups. In this brochure, we have marked the venues as either wheelchair accessible, easy walker or with a ceiling track hoist. Wheelchair accessible means the venue has been adapted for someone who is a wheelchair user and meets the Sense standard of accessibility. However, the level of access does vary: from purpose-built accommodation to venues that offer minor adaptations, such as wider doorways and ramps. We have also identified the most accessible venues with ceiling track hoists. Where a holiday is identified as wheelchair accessible but does not mention ceiling track hoists we may be able provide mobile hoists. All easy walker venues have at least one downstairs bedroom and may be suitable for occasional wheelchair users. If you have any questions please contact us at holidays@sense.org.uk 5
