St. James Lutheran Church 9:00 A.M. Worship Service – 10:30 A.M. Sunday School The Rev. Darcy M. Reis, Pastor =============================================== SEASON OF LENT March 2019
MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR March, 2019 ================================== Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Ash Wednesday, March 6th this year, begins the season of Lent, the six weeks before Easter. Lent is a time the Church set aside to remember our sinful nature, seek repentance, and serve God by serving others. Daniel 9:3 states, “I turned to the Lord God, to seek help, in prayer and petition, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.” Ashes are placed on our foreheads in the sign of the cross as a reminder of the following: *A call to repentance: a physical sign that we are sinners in need of forgiveness *That God created us from the earth and when we die, we return to it. However, God so loves us that even when our bodies return to the dust, our souls are meant to live forever with Him. As we make our way through this season of Lent, we can remember that Jesus is always present with us throughout all we encounter and endure in our lives. I invite you to experience many opportunities offered this Lent to help deepen your faith life and relationship with Jesus Christ. March 6th: Ash Wednesday Drive by Ashes - 2:30-4:30 p.m. (N.
