The San Pablo Confirmation II class, that will be Confirmed on June 20th, still wants to continue doing good. So, here’s their plan: Every month they will be collecting a different kind of food for KAIR (Keys Area Interdenominational Resources), which is the primary source in Marathon for those in need. It is supported by all the churches in our fine city. How will you know what to donate? They will let you know through announcements in church, in the bulletin, and in the newsletter emails. Where should I put my donations? In the giant blue bins at the doors of the church. You won’t want to miss a month! Because of the creativity of these young San Pablo Candidates, each month will be an interesting mix! The pictures on the bins will let you know what to put in! Every Monday the food will be delivered to KAIR where the people are happily waiting to see what the donations will be! INSTACART: If it’s hard to get out shopping, think about having Instacart do it for you AND have it delivered to San Pablo! You are invited to go up to the center isle to the Altar during the Offertory at Mass and put your donations in the large blue bin.
May the Ignatian Year help us see all things new in Christ Pope Francis offers a video message for the online prayer initiative to mark the beginning of the Ignatian Year, when 500 years ago, Saint Ignatius of Loyo- la was wounded in the battle of Pamplona putting him on a journey of conversion. By Vatican News staff writer The online prayer initiative is being celebrated as an opportunity to mark the 500th anniversary of the conversion of Saint Ignatius of Loyola who went on to found the Society of Jesus. The launch of the Ignatian year offers a time to be renewed, become pilgrims with Ignatius, and see all things new in Christ. In his video message in Spanish to the participants, including Jesuit Father General Arturo Sosa and Jesuits from around the world offering testimonies, Pope Francis expressed his joy at join- ing in this prayer for the Ignatian Year and his hopes that all inspired by Ignatius and Ignatian spirituality may also “truly live this year as an experience of conversion”. The wound that shattered Ignatius’ worldly dreams in an instant “changed the course of his life, and the course of the world”, the Pope noted, but “God had a bigger dream for him” that was about “helping souls”. He said this dream was about redemption, reaching out to the world, “accompanied by Jesus, humble and poor”. This conversion took place daily, the Pope noted, and rarely was it a “once and for all” experience, rather something ongoing “throughout his life, day after day”. Eucharistic Exposition is an extension of the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which occurs in every Mass: "Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb." Exposition of the Blessed Sacra- ment flows from the sacrifice of the Mass and serves to deepen our hunger for Communion with Christ and the rest of the Church. Exposition takes place every First Friday of the month immediately following morning Mass until 10 AM. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will also be available in the entrance or garden gazebo. Eucharistic adoration is a Eucharistic practice in which the Blessed Sacrament is adored by the faithful. This practice may occur either when the Eucharist is exposed, or when it is not publicly viewable because it is reserved in a place such as a church tabernacle. Adoration is a sign of devotion to and worship of Jesus Christ, Who is present in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, under the appearance of the consecrated host, that is, sacramental bread. From a the- ological perspective, the adoration is a form of latria, based on the tenet of the real presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. The church is open for Adoration every day from dawn to dusk.
