Online Training with Zoom The training courses within this brochure are delivered online using the Zoom platform. It is important that you check your organisation’s policy on the use of the training platform prior to booking. Also, please ensure that you have tested your equipment and are familiar with the appropriate software before the training takes place. If you would like any help to access Zoom, please email earlyyearsandchildcare@norfolk.gov.uk Delegates will receive a Zoom meeting link, meeting ID and password in an emailed confirmation letter before each course. Please ensure you read the following information before you join a Zoom session: • Ensure you are seated comfortably at your computer or with your device in a private room with no distractions from others • Join the Zoom ‘waiting room’ 10 minutes before the start time of each session, where the Tutor will authorise you to join • Ensure that your Zoom name matches your real first name and surname so that the Tutor can confirm your identity and only allow booked delegates to join • Have a drink, notepad/paper and pen to hand (comfort breaks will be given during each course) • Please keep your microphone and camera on unless the trainer requests that participants are muted In order to maintain a positive learning environment for all participants, when you attend a Zoom training course you can expect: • To be treated in a professional and respectful manner • The session to be led by a knowledgeable and experienced trainer • Training sessions to start and end at the times specified • Any concerns regarding the training/trainer to be followed up through evaluation and feedback given In return participants are expected to: • Actively participate in the exercises and discussions in order to fully benefit from the training: Fun comes from participation; be a thinking participant - ask why? • Attend for the whole training session. Delegates joining late or leaving early will not receive a certificate of attendance • Behave in a professional manner. Any inappropriate/concerning issues or behaviour relating to safeguarding children will be reported • Complete an evaluation of the training, reflecting on your learning and the teaching delivery Back to contents
E-Safety Course Aim: To introduce E-Safety and everyone’s role in safeguarding children and young people in their use of new technologies. Introduction to Child Protection Aim: To enable all staff and volunteers to develop an awareness and understanding of safeguarding issues and processes, and how these relate to their organisation’s roles and responsibilities. Prevent Training Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP) This introductory training provides a foundation on which to develop further knowledge around the risks of radicalisation and the kinds of support available for Target audiences those at risk. and cost At the end of the training, participants will be able to: Childminders • Understand Prevent’s aims Early years group settings • Think about who may be vulnerable to Out of school clubs terrorism Committee members • See why some people can influence and manipulate others to commit crimes £0 – Fully funded • Recognise when a vulnerable individual may need help • Be clear on what help and support looks like Training provider in this area and who you should turn to if you have concerns Julia Jacka & Gemma Lane If you have previously attended British Values Early Years Learning Team, training it is advised that you also complete this Norfolk County Council course. Those successful in being allocated a place will be emailed Zoom joining instructions. Prevent Training is also available online via the Home Office. The three packages that are currently available are: Prevent Awareness - This offers an introduction to the Prevent Duty and explains how it aims to safeguard vulnerable people from being radicalised to supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists themselves. http://www.elearning.prevent.homeoffice.gov.uk Prevent Referrals - This package builds on the Prevent awareness eLearning training. It is designed to make sure that when we share a concern that a vulnerable individual may be being radicalised, that the referral is robust, informed and with good intention, and that the response to that concern is considered, and proportionate. https://www.elearning.prevent.homeoffice.gov.uk/preventreferrals Channel Awareness - This training package is for anyone who may be asked to contribute to, sit on, or even run a Channel Panel. Safeguarding for Early Years Committees This course will focus on the role of Early Years Committees and their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children. Target audiences It will look at the legislative framework around safeguarding, as well as the lessons learned from and cost high profile cases in Early Years settings. It will look Committee members at the policies and procedures needed to ensure safe working practices, as well as management £0 – Fully funded responsibilities. This training is not aimed at practitioners. Early years and childcare practitioners require specific training around signs and symptoms of abuse, which is covered in the Introduction to Child Protection Training Provider training. Safeguarding Lead Practitioner This course is aimed at individuals who will be taking on the role of Safeguarding Lead Practitioner. It will Target audiences build on the knowledge that participants will have gained from Introduction to Child Protection training, and cost which must have been completed within the last three years. Completion of all sessions is essential. Safeguarding Lead Practitioner Refresher This Early Years SLP Refresher training is for those who have previously attended the 2 day SLP/SDP course and the Intro to Child Protection and need to update after 3 years. The refresher course will: Target audiences • Update child protection and safeguarding and cost knowledge • Look at updates in legislation and guidance Childminders and the effect on practice Early years group settings • Confidence build around more complex cases Out of school clubs • Evaluate own decision making, practice and values, as well as those of the setting £0 – Fully funded • Advise on procedural updates within the Safeguarding Children system • Include learning from latest Serious Case Training Provider Reviews, including Norfolk • Introduce key themes around E-Safety Safer – NSCP (Norfolk This course combines the Introduction to Child Safeguarding Children Protection and SLP/SDP Refresher. Safer Recruitment This training is for those who are responsible for recruiting staff in early years and childcare settings, including childminders who employ assistants. It is also intended that chairpersons of committee run groups complete the training with the manager. One of the key messages from this training will be a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and the expectation that all staff and volunteers share in this commitment.
