ABOUT US At RN Incorporated, we have dedicated ourselves to construction, building and engineering law. We ensured that we possess expert knowledge in the associated fields of insurance, commercial, property and contract law to deliver a bespoke service to our clients. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have been able to tailor our services to all role players in the built environment from the feasibility phase to project close out and defects liability phase. We deal with projects in most sectors, including Transport, Healthcare, Leisure and Hospitality, Commercial & Residential Property, Energy & Oil & Gas. We are very aware of the prohibitive cost of expert legal advice and as a result, we have purposefully kept the firm as streamlined as possible in order to deliver the best value proposition to our clients. We have achieved this by compiling an elite team of legal counsel, technical consultants and expert witnesses and by forming strategic alliances with other bespoke legal, financial and building services firms as well as freelance professionals. OUR TEAM ROELF NEL Roelf is the Director. Roelf obtained his LLB degree Cum Laude from the University of Pretoria in 2002, following which he went on to complete his articles at one of the larger litigation firms in the Western Cape. During 2005 he moved back to Pretoria where he practised as a professional assistant at a leading Pretoria criminal law firm. During 2007 he moved to Markram Incorporated where he practised as an Associate in, what was then, a niche construction and engineering law firm. Roelf specializes in Construction and Engineering Law. JOHAN VAN DER WATH Johan is the senior associate at the firm. He obtained his B.Comm Law degree from the University of Pretoria in 2011 and his LLB degree in 2013 from the same institution. Johan was admitted as an attorney during 2014 and has prior to joining the firm been exposed to various aspects of commercial, labour and general litigation. Ever since joining the firm in 2017 Johan has obtained extensive experience in construction law and primarily assists clients with dispute resolution. He is passionate about resolving disputes in the construction industry and frequently acts in adjudication and arbitration disputes for both employers and contractors. Johan also provides training to built environment practitioners on how to avoid disputes. Johan has recently obtained associate membership at the association of arbitrators and will in 2021 complete the association of arbitrator’s course to become enrolled as an arbitrator.
OUR TEAM CONTINUED CARIN VAN WYK Carin is an associate at the firm. Carin obtained her LLB degree in 2014 from the University of Pretoria. She completed her LLM degree in 2016 at the same Institution, in the field of Environmental Jurisprudence while working an as academic associate in the faculty. Carin joined the firm as a candidate attorney in 2018 and was admitted as an attorney in 2019. She assists various role players within the industry with compliance, contract management and dispute resolution. She is currently developing the environmental law and compliance department of the firm to implement her vision of contributing to a more sustainable built environment industry. Carin is part of the team who presents workshops and training to role players within industry on compliance and contract management. She enjoys research and critical thinking and regularly drafts articles for the firm which are featured in industry-based publications. Carin is currently studying to be admitted as a conveyancer. DANICA NEL DE LA REY Danica is an associate at the Firm. She obtained her LLB degree in 2002 from the University of Pretoria. She obtained her LLM degree in 2005, from the same Institution, in the field of Mercantile Law. Danica moved to the United Kingdom during 2006 and successfully passed her QLTT exams in 2007. She is admitted to practice in both South Africa and England and Wales. DANIELLE GIANNICO Daniellé is a second year candidate at the firm and is working hard towards being admitted in the first half of 2021. She obtained her LLB from the University of Pretoria in 2018. Daniellé is passionate about litigation and has put this passion into her work, as a result she has been, and continues to be involved in various adjudications, arbitrations and high court litigation matters. Her further interests lie in Copyright law and how it relates to the construction industry, she intends to complete an LLM on this topic after her admission with a view to bringing new expertise to the firm.
OUR TEAM CONTINUED MICHAEL DE FREITAS Michael is a first-year candidate attorney at the firm. Michael completed his B.Com law degree which he obtained from the IIE Varsity College in 2016 and his LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 2019. Since joining the team in 2020, Michael has been involved in various Arbitrations and Adjudications which has fostered his passion for the world of business, specifically alternative dispute resolution. Michael is currently involved in new project developments locally and will spearhead future developments as we continue to establish a global footprint in the built environment industry. KHONZI ZONDI Khonzi is a first-year candidate attorney in the firm. She obtained her B.Com law degree at the IIE Varsity College in the year 2017 and her LLB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2019. Since joining the firm, Khonzi has been drawn to standard form agreements, and enjoys working on matters which provide commercial and contractual support in the construction industry. NOMSA CHAUKE Nomsa is the Personal Assistant to Roelf and currently studying towards her LLB degree.
