We’ve extended the submission period on a proposal to permanently chlorinate the following water supplies: Upper Takaka, Hamama, Motueka, Riwaka / Kaiteriteri and Richmond. All other Tasman District Council water supplies are already treated with chlorine to ensure the safe supply of drinking water. This is in line with the accepted practice for water treatment around New Zealand and other developed countries around the world.
