Annual Meeting Overview The mission of the PHATS/SPHEM Annual Meetings is to provide educational and problem solving opportunities for athletic trainers and equipment managers at every level of professional hockey. This is done through our educational symposiums, business meetings, and exhibit hall with our many valued vendors and recognition programs for our members. Currently, PHATS/SPHEM boasts over 600 members, who represent more than 100 Professional, NCAA and Canadian Hockey League teams from across North America and Europe including the NHL, AHL, ECHL, SPHL, NCAA, OHL, WHL, QMJHL, USHL and Junior Hockey Leagues. To further the growth and education of our members, PHATS/SPHEM also welcomes the NHLTPS (National Hockey League Team Physicians Society) and SCAPH (Strength and Conditioning Association of Professional Hockey) to the Conference, giving members the opportunity to work hand in hand with the team doctors and strength coaches to share knowledge, techniques and procedures. EDUCATIONAL SYMPOSIUM: Continuing Education units are offered for seminars and workshops to members during the Annual Meetings, with topics and speakers representing the entire spectrum of hockey. The symposium is designed specifically for the needs of hockey professionals and provides a unique opportunity for members to collaborate and build understanding across both professions and leagues. Our symposium’s learning objectives will follow the rules and regulations set forth by the BOC for each program in order to obtain continuing education units. The Board of Certification, Inc., the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association, the Athletic Equipment Managers Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association, all certifying organizations for both professions, recognizes the PHATS/SPHEM Educational Symposium. BUSINESS MEETINGS: The PHATS/SPHEM Annual Meetings offer the most timely and useful educational resources available to professional hockey athletic trainers and equipment managers. Additionally, it provides a unique forum for members to explore the issues that are unique to their work environment. Members meet in general sessions, to share common concerns that exist across all leagues, as well as in league-specific settings, where pertinent issues can be addressed. Because PHATS/SPHEM offers the only such problem solving opportunity, the NHL and most professional hockey leagues, NCAA teams, the Canadian Hockey League and USHL send representatives to participate in these important league-level meetings. EXHIBIT HALL: Another important component of the PHATS/SPHEM Annual Meeting is the Exhibit Hall. Manufacturers have been invited to show their wares since the early days of the Athletic Trainers Association. Even as the number of exhibitors has increased, the friendly atmosphere has remained, making PHATS/SPHEM a favorite of both equipment manufacturers and sports medicine suppliers alike. But, PHATS/SPHEM is not all handshakes and greetings. It remains one of the few working exhibits where members come equipped with purchase orders and serious interest in new technologies and services. Because it is attended by more ice hockey athletic trainers and equipment managers than any other exhibition, PHATS/SPHEM offers exhibitors an exclusive venue for testing and showing new hockey related products. RECOGNITION: A final objective of the PHATS/SPHEM Annual Meetings is to increase awareness of members’ dedication and professionalism. During the annual Hall of Fame Dinner, one former member of PHATS or SPHEM is honored for his contribution and service by being inducted into the PHATS/SPHEM Wall of Honor, located in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario. Our Hall of Fame Dinner keynote speakers have included Kevin Lowe, Rob Ray, Pat LaFontaine, Bill Ranford, Stu Grimson, Pete Weber, David Poile, Larry Carrière, Ralph Strangis, Paul Coffey, Emile Francis, Harry Neale, Terry Crisp, Jiggs McDonald, Denis Potvin, Bob Miller, Larry Robinson & Brian Skrudland. In addition, we take pride in honoring one of our loyal and supportive Vendors with the prestigious Frank and Vi Rowe Ambassadors Award. The awards ceremony continues when several PHATS/SPHEM members are recognized for their years of service, achieving a remarkable Games Worked Milestone during their hockey careers.

SCAPH COURSE: KICK-STARTER NEURO-RECONDITIONING FOR PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY WITH SCOTT LIVINGSTON & JAIME LIVINGSTON All therapists want to protect the athletes they serve through preventative means, and all performance professionals want to protect them by making the athlete more prepared. By simply changing the narrative. Simply talking about making the athlete more ROBUST, the idea of Reconditioning serves both purposes, and acts as a language of common practice integrating these two worlds. Neuro-Reconditioning is an operating system that brings the worlds of therapy and performance together through a neurological lens. Neuro-Reconditioning is designed to provide the participant with a clear and constructed process for assessing movement globally and integrating that global assessment with localized approaches, so you clearly understand where the drivers of dysfunction and limitation in performance reside. By understanding and addressing the root cause of dysfunction or limitation in the system, practitioners are able to get rapid, effective, and long-lasting results with their athletes. Reconditioning is normally delivered in a three-course program called the R-Pro Series, and flows through a process of delivering the foundation, creating the higher-level design strategies, and then bringing it all together in a collaborative live program. This hockey specific kick-start one day course will take the participant through a Hockey Case Study demonstrating some of the key concepts and practices and leaving the participant with several Monday morning concepts they can inject into their therapy and performance practice. Learning Objectives • Understand how the neurological system governs movement • Get introduced to global and local assessment strategies that are linked to specific movement analysis • Work with key intervention strategies specific to the hockey performance environment • Understand how Reconditioning can help you solve more injury and performance problems Date: Thursday - June 23rd, 2022 Time: 8:00 - 5:00 pm Location: JW Marriott Marco Island Cost: $500 (Includes continental breakfast and coffee breaks) Registration: Register here Scott Livingston, B.Sc., CAT(C), CSCS Scott Livingston has been working in the field of human performance for thirty-five years.
