Roseann flew here in December to see how Gloria was doing and found her in bad shape. She was so ill, it was impossible for her to live alone. She was moved to an as- sisted living facility, but couldn’t stay there because she didn’t qualify for skilled nursing. She was turned down for Medicaid because she had money in her checking account that, ironically, her nieces and nephews sent to help her. Irene Long and Gloria’s friends stepped in to help. Irene took Gloria into her home, where she and friends cared for her until she needed full-time professional care. She died March 25.
