ramadan kareem Welcome Imams Message My dear community, As-salaam ‘alaikumwarahmatullah, Here is the special gift of allah coming back. Here is the month of ramadan carrying to us, the blessings of Allah, inviting to reform and rebuild our heart, mind and body with faith, love, fairness, mercy, health and unity. We,the muslim community, are facing many challenges of different kinds, but the Knowledge, good character and unity, are our means to survive and face all those challenges. My dear community, Take advantage of this generous gift of Allah by developing and rebuilding your Muslim personality through: • Reading the Qur’an. I.E. Allaah’s message and reflecting upon its meaning through a credible tafseer. • Minimize or avoid Social networking services. • Give more time to ibadah and duaa for all. • Collect money in a charity box or put it in masjid’s box. • Volunteer for community service. • Seek the Laylatul-Qadr. • Break the bad habits and replace them with good ones. • Rebuild family ties and be kind to relatives. • Do charity on behalf of your beloved who passed away. My dear community, Rejoice in Allah’s bounty and mercy and remember what Allah says (which means): “say, “in the bounty of allah and in his mercy – in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate.”. And the Hadith Qudsi (which means):: “Every action of the son of adam is given manifold reward, each good deed receiving ten times its like, up to seven hundred times. Allah the most high said: ‘except for fasting, for it is for me and i will give recompense for it, He leaves off his desires and his food for me’. For the fasting person there are two times of joy; a time of joy when he breaks his fast and a time of joy when he meets his lord, and the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better with Allah than the smell of musk.” [Muslim] Ramadan mubarak, 5
Ramadan RAMADAN ‘A Chance To Build Your Iman’’ ‘‘Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain Taqwaa.” (Quran, 2:183)’’ 63
T he reward for fasting and praying in this month is so great, that the Prophet (PBUH) states, “Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping for reward, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayer on Laylat al-Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for reward, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Agreed Upon] A nd he states, “Whoever prayed at night during it (Ramadan) out of sincere faith and hoping for reward, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Agreed Upon] T hese are opportunities that we have been given to attain forgiveness for all our sins. T he spiritual doctors of the heart are in agreement that fasting softens the heart, making it more receptive and humble to the recitation of the Qur’an. Perhaps this is the wisdom that links together fasting and night prayer, the two most distinctive acts of worship in this month. 7

Covid Response ‘‘Looking after Mind, Body & Spirituality’’ D uring the height of the pandemic when everyone was told to stay in our homes, the team at ICC Wembley tried to see how we can help the community in these difficult times. One of the initiatives that took place was providing a hot Iftar meal to the elderly of the community to ensure they had a nutritious meal to eat in isolation. All of this was done by the volunteers. This situation was also used to give the Masjid a deep clean and ready for once congregrational worship was allowed I n terms of spiritual replenishment, our Imam, Abdullah Salloo provided a daily session free of charge for the brothers and sisters of the community covering different topics such as Ahadith, remedies of the prophet, Quranic reminders as well as others. This allowed families to have something to listen to on a daily basis which could benefit their akhirah rather than engrossing their time in endless TV series and social media. An annual study told us that the average screen time spent in the 2020 lockdown in the “UK was an average of six hours and 25 minutes”. If this is calculated to the year, it would mean we spend over a quarter of the year on our screens! L ockdown was a time when mental health also took a downturn, not just in those that suffer from mental health issues, but also within those that have no previous record of mental health problems. Faith programmes over broadcasting gave a breath of fresh air. Programmes are still aired on Mixlr. Please do tune in to live programmes. 22

Volunteers “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” W hen the announcement came for the easing of lockown and the opening of masajid. this came with a lot of new restrictions and guidelines from the government for mosques. D ue to this, we needed the community to step up and dedicate time every week for jumua salaah. Alhamdulillah around 30 brothers, mainly from the youth put themselves forward to volunteer 3 hours every week. T hroughout the hot summer and the cold wet winters the volunteers came week in, week out providing their services. In addition to this, on the day of Eid al Adha (which was also jumua) the volunteers gave 6 - 8 hours of support. M ay Allah accept their efforts and give them the best of rewards. .........Aameen. 24

Nasr Project ENOUGH TO GO Mr O’Regan’s story; ‘‘ ROUND! F or some context with regards to real-life situations in our community, the local brothers visited a man named Mr O’regan. He is an Irish elder of our community who welcomed one of the brothers to his home as he needed help fixing his TV. T he brother noticed a discrepancy in his living situation and decided to help. This lead to further visits from the brothers to drop off some necessities such as staple foods like bread, milk, cereal and pasta. These foods are basic and some elderly in our community struggle in these challenging times due to the COVID affecting them more harshly. Also many elderly are lonely as they can’t have family over so the brothers have been spending time with him. Sometimes it isn’t even about providing sustenance, some just need a helping hand. A simple thing can go a long way and make someone’s day. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: “He is not from us whoever does not have mercy on our young and reverence for elders,” quoted in Al Tirmidhi’s hadith. 26
ICC WEMBLEY NASR PROJECT DELIVERS AID COMING TOGETHER WHEN EVERYONE WAS SEPARATED T he ICC Wembley Nasr initiative started and is still running which is to feed the homeless. Y oungsters of the community took the initiative to go on their bikes on a weekly basis and give out necessity packages to the homeless to support their immediate needs. Within the packages there was Socks, gloves, tinned food, oats, nutrition bars, water and snacks. These items would allow those sleeping rough to have things that could give them support and fulfil their needs on a daily basis. M ay Allah accept all the Khidmah done by the community and grant them steadfastness. T o contribute in any way, please contact the Masjid. 27

Project Update 2021 ICC WEMBLEY COMMUNITY & EDUCATION CENTRE PROJECT 38
WHERE WE WERE? Our History ICC Wembley was established in 1994 with humble beginnings. A small shop became the Hub for the community. Slowly but surely we have been able to build a masjid with a capacity of almost 700 worshippers. When the opportunity came for us to expand by purchasing the formerly, known Tokygnton Library , we knew it was a chance that we had to take in order to bring our services to the next level. Tokyngton Library Alhamdulillah as many of you will already know we wereable to purchase the Tokyngton Librrary a few years back. After this we began to use the library for the girls madrassa throughout the week allowing us to expand andgive the girls a comfortable learning environment. During this we set out a plan to reconstruct the library in such away that we are able to benefit the community in its diverse needs and educate the coming generation. 39
