Purple Affair for the Bear, hosted by the Young Professionals Board of Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer
Foundation, is an incredible night featuring delicious bites, an open bar, live music, an exciting silent
auction, and a moving program. This signature fundraising event raises more than $100,000 to fight
pediatric cancer and brings more than 500 young professionals together to celebrate making a difference
in children's lives.
As a sponsor of this event, your name will be prominently featured throughout the night and in Bear
Necessities social media, reaching more than 20,000 individuals throughout the Chicagoland area. You
will receive several promotional benefits while making a lasting impact on children and families battling
pediatric cancer.

About Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation
The mission of Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation is to provide unparalleled hope
and support to those touched by pediatric cancer. Our vision is a world without this
devastating disease.
It is critical to help patients and their families today, bringing hope, joy, and support to
those most in need while investing in pediatric cancer research to ultimately discover a
cure. At Bear Necessities, we do both. As an organization, we have four primary goals:
Inspire hope and joy in children ages 0-19, so they build strength to cope with their
illness
Holistically serve the entire family during one of the most challenging times in their
lives
Offer children and their families critical educational and psychosocial support
Invest in research to ultimately discover a cure for pediatric cancer
To achieve these goals, Bear Necessities delivers four primary programs: Bear Hugs (dream
experiences and family support), Counseling, Hope Education Scholarships, and Bear
Discoveries (research).
Bear Necessities was founded in 1992 by Kathleen A. Casey in memory of her eight-year-old
son, Barrett “Bear” Krupa, who died after a courageous five-and-a-half-year battle with
Wilms Tumor, a pediatric cancer. Prior to his death on January 9, 1993, Bear and Kathleen
planned the formation of Bear Necessities. During his long stay in the hospital, Bear
expressed more concern for other pediatric cancer patients than he did for himself. He and
his mother learned that patients and their family members need support above and beyond
standard medical care, and thus, Bear Necessities was born.
