EO4Infrastruture (EO4I): Demonstrating in-situ and
space-based EO support for infrastructure management
Objective:
to contribute to the reduction of the existing gaps in the infrastructure management
sector by demonstrating that EO data, combined with in-situ data as well as other EO derived
products e.g. the ones produced by the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) in particular
the European Ground Motion Service (EGMS) can provide a real benefit to End Users.
Outline:
demonstration project together with end-user organisations (public authorities and
their supporting civil engineering entities) in three different ESA Member States.
deployment of the monitoring system on the premises of the engaged end-users and
a demonstration of minimum six months is part of the project

EO Applications Project
World Emission
• The project prepares the ground for a long-term exploitation of
atmospheric emissions data by large user communities
• KO: Q4/2020, Duration: 24 months; Budget: 1 MEUR
• Specific objectives include:
• Assessment of methane (CH4) emissions from major anthropogenic sources;
• Development of top-down estimates from satellite CH4;
• Development of emission estimates for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)
• Assessment of ammonia (NH3) release related to agricultural;
• Investigation of high resolution measurements of water vapour (H2O);
• Assessment of high nitrogen dioxide (NO2) release from point sources;
• Assessment of high resolution measurements of NO2 and SO2 in combination with CO2;
• Development of CO2 emission estimates in tropical regions;
• Improvement of aerosol emissions from existing;
• Investigation on methanol emission;
• Assessment of estimates of carbonaceous aerosols, black carbon, CO and CO2
emissions from biomass burning.

Background Industry Growth element organized as three activity lines: • Expand demand – use platform based approaches to embed EO based information services into user domain operational processes (minimize the difficulty of using EO) • Best practices – work with industry sectors to establish rules, recommendations and benchmarks for best practice in the use of EO derived information for specific market sectors • New opportunities and actors – extend and open up markets exploiting new technologies, tools, capabilities etc Tenders foreseen for 2021: • Expand Demand – EO for Shipping • New Opportunities and Actors – AI based video analytics for small satellites ESA UNCLASSIFIED - For Official Use

AI-based Video Analytics for Smallsats
Objective:
• Customize/develop innovative AI algorithms for feature
identification/characterization in satellite video data, taking
advantage of the movement related information content
Scope:
• Situation characterization
• Feature/target identification and status assessment (in
combination with static imagery)
• Feature/process characterization from multi-view
information
