5 th International Conference of translational medicine on pathogenesis and therapy of immunomediated diseases Innate immunity, inflammation and experimental models of human diseases May 16th - 18th, 2019 Università degli Studi di Milano Milan, Italy WELCOME Dear Colleagues, we are all aware that conveying scientific discoveries into health improvement is a priority for biomedical sciences in the 21st century. To contribute to this goal, the Italian Society of Immunology, Clinical Immunology and Allergology (SIICA) is pleased to welcome you to the “5th Conference on Translational Medicine on Pathogenesis and Therapy of Immunemediated Diseases” in Milan, May 16th-18th, 2019. The main goal of this meeting is to bring together clinicians, research scientists and industry partners to discuss the medical advances from the laboratory to the clinic in the field of immunopathology. Indeed, dysfunctions of both innate and adaptive immune responses play key roles in the pathogenesis of a number of severe pathological conditions, including cancer, infections, autoimmune and auto-inflammatory disorders, and primary immune-deficiencies. The elucidation of immune mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of these diseases is a required experimental step for developing novel and alternative therapeutic strategies to finally cure these pathologies and fill their several unmet clinical needs. In this 5th edition the meeting will focus in particular on the contribution of inflammation in different prototypic immune-mediated diseases representing a real burden for the society in terms of quality and duration of life. As occurred in previous editions, in this meeting you will experience a high quality scientific program with the presence of word renowned national and international speakers that will discuss the latest advances in this field. Every section will include a keynote lecture delivered by a pioneer in its research field, invited speakers, and short presentations selected from the best submitted abstracts presented by young and skilled physicians and scientists. To enforce interactions and scientific discussions, a very interactive social program with happy hours and social dinners will be fully and freely accessible at all participants of the meeting. In collaboration with biotech or pharmaceutical companies, we have also organized satellite symposia to introduce the latest technologies available to investigate the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying these diseases and new breakthrough drugs for their treatment. All this will take place in the heart of Milan, a city famous for its history, fashion, culture and food, and we will make sure you will also enjoy all these aspects of our city. Hence, we welcome you in Milan! Massimo Locati and Domenico Mavilio Chairmen of the meeting on behalf of SIICA 1
