Welcome to the AAA National Conference 2021 The AAA National Conference 2021 offers an engaging and educational program filed with a great mix of aviation experts, industry leaders and technical speakers. The program has been carefully designed to be relevant to all business areas of airports. In keeping with the successful format of previous years, day two will feature a concurrent stream focusing specifically on issues relevant to regional airports. In the new normal, air freight will be an important part of any aviation business case, and offers airports an opportunity to build resilience through diversification of their revenue streams. We’ll explore the whole-of-business revenue and value opportunities which strategic development of airfreight offers and why alignment between the aviation development, property and planning parts of the airport is so important. Both issues can be bought about by things like thunderstorms, wind changes, ground structures or aircraft ‘wakes’ in the vicinity of the runway or approach environment. In order to better understand and manage these issues Sydney Airport has been trialling a Light Detection and Ranging System (LIDAR).
