Day Camp 2021 Registration for Camp Patriot 2021 will be open soon! In order to offer maximum programming and maximum safety, we’re going to offer two different programs this summer! Camp Patriot exists to provide a unique camping experience to your camper, whether that’s in- person or via Zoom. We make our camp unique by focusing on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) opportunities for your children while utilizing all that Stevenson High School has to offer. By the end of our program, your camper will have worked on developing SEL skills, have met new friends, and built relationships with campers, staff, and faculty in a recreational setting. Health & Wellness Wait... What Did You Say? Everything You Need to Know About Attention Deficit Disorder! Dr. Richard Goldwasser Do you get easily distracted? Do you find yourself jumping from task to task but never finishing anything? Do you forget things because you get focused on something else? This class, taught by a clinical psychologist/specialist in the area of Attention Deficit Disorder, will help you understand ADD/ADHD in both adults and children: signs and symptoms, related disorders, diagnosis, and management. So many people suffer from ADD and its symptoms, including the inability to stay focused and on task, the course will go over its impact on both work and personal relationships and offer practical advice and strategies to modify behavior and manage symptoms. 3/15 6:30-8:30 pm Zoom Fee: $25 Dr. Richard Goldwasser Prior to relocating to Chicago in 2000, Dr. Goldwasser was a school psychologist,a clinical psychologist, and the founder and director of a multi-discipline stress management clinic. His vast amount of experience in the area of ADHD includes: his doctoral dissertation which explored “The Use of Biofeedback and other Modalities in the Treatment of Attention Deficit Disorders”; evaluating and diagnosing well over 1,500 children and adults; development of “BEEP”, the Behavioral, Educational, Emotional Program for ADD children and, for two decades, lecturing to parents, educators and therapists on understanding and meeting the needs of the Attention Deficit Child. Self-diagnosed in graduate school as having attention deficit disorder, Dr. Goldwasser also treats adults with ADD/ADHD. Special Interest Julie Goldberg Julie Goldberg is the first guitarist to earn a doctorate in music performance from Northwestern University, and also holds degrees from the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University and College- Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. An associate professor at VanderCook College of Music and NorthPark University, Dr. Goldberg directs the Chicago Community Classical Guitar Orchestra, and leads the Annual Day of Guitar Festival. She has taught clinics and master classes in Wisconsin and Vietnam, and is a frequent adjudicator of guitar contests and competitions. In addition to teaching, Dr. Goldberg performs as a solo guitarist, and in the Avanti Guitar Trio. Her community outreach performances earned her the honor of being named Guitarist of the Year by Classical Guitar Alive magazine. Dr. Goldberg is the co-author of 100 Classical Guitar Lessons. Her educational guitar ensemble arrangements are published by Guitar Chamber Music Press and Guitar Class Resources. Based on feedback from you, we are excited to continue some of our amazing programs as well as offer additional programs through additional professional organizations. With that in mind, we’re so excited to introduce our new partnership with Noggin Builders. Noggin Builders is a company who has Robotics for Beginner/ been locally operating for several years. Intermediate (5th - 8th) They’re going to be providing some of Noggin Builders their amazing, adult staff to teach your Build, drive and code robots using the VEX children and to give them a leg up in IQ Robotics system! This session we will be STEAM! building and coding robots for the current VEX IQ challenge - Rise Above. Included in your tuition, each recipient will receive 3 competition scoring elements. STEM Explorers (2nd - 5th) Noggin Builders NOTE: A VEX IQ robot kit is needed for full participation; this set can be purchased directly NEW PROJECTS EACH SESSION! Experiment, from the manufacturer.
