OTHER MAJOR PROJECTS OVER 6,500 HOTEL ROOMS NEW HOTELS Adelaide’s capacity for hotel accommodation continues to grow in IN ADELAIDE line with the convention and events infrastructure, and when all current projects are complete there will be over 6,500 rooms CBD available to delegates and organisers across Adelaide’s CBD. Furthermore recent announcements indicate Starwood Hotels and Resorts plans to open a Sheraton property in North Adelaide by 2019, adding a further 160 rooms to the city’s accommodation mix. A number of existing city hotels also have significant refurbishments planned. VICTORIA SQUARE A $24 million rejuvenation of Victoria Square as an accessible, lively and people-focused space, was completed in early 2014 and Victoria Square is now used by many events such as Adelaide Fringe Festival, Tour Down Under and Tasting Australia. RUNDLE MALL A city block comprising the longest shopping mall in Australia along with a labyrinth of laneways, arcades and alleys has completed a progressive and extensive redevelopment.
