IMPRESSIONS OF PASSAU. EDITORIAL With over 2,000 years of history and a unique location, Passau is a perfect destination for visitors from all over the world. Where else could you experience culture and nature in such close proximity? The Celts, Romans, Bavarians – they all left lasting traces. The same is true for the Prince-Bishops of Passau, whose territory later became part of the kingdom of Bavaria which is today the Free State of Bavaria. Besides the great monu- ments from the past, Passau offers a unique spectacle of nature: the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers. Coming from the west, the south and the north, the three rivers unite as the Danube and continue to flow eastwards to the Black Sea. Passau is one of the absolute highlights of every Danube river cruise. Depending on which direction the cruise takes, Passau is usually the first or last port of call in Germany. The Old Town with its winding streets and alleys, with its romantic river promenades and handsome city squares is in easy walking distance from the moorings. Cruise ships are able to rely on top-notch and state-of-the-art infrastructure to make your stay as convenient as possible. There are several possibilities for getting to know the many faces of the Three Rivers City of Passau. Especially for tourist groups, there is a comprehensive offer. With the Sales & Cruise Guide we want to provide an overview for you and help you with your planning. For any further information you may need, we would be more than pleased if you contact us! 2
