This resource contains excerpts from the Democratic and Republican party platforms. It contains no com-
mentary or analysis. It utilizes the party platforms, not the voting records or comments of the particular
                                                   candidates, for its content.

In developing this guide, the two platforms were carefully compared issue by issue. A concerted effort was
made to identify specific proposals and pledges made by each party on selected issues and not include
campaign rhetoric. When one party addressed issues not cited by the other party,
e.g., religious liberty and gambling, we did not include those issues in the
comparison resource. Given the constraints of space, not every issue or
                                               proposal could be included.

While we made every effort to be thoroughly objective in our development of this
piece, nothing can substitute for voters reviewing the entire platforms themselves. To assist
you in using this resource, we have placed the page numbers where excerpted sections are
found in the particular party platforms in parenthesis throughout the guide. You may view
