DON’T LET MONEY HOLD YOU BACK If you are interested in completing a course, but not sure how you will fund it, then contact the Money Management Services team (MMS). The team are available to help you: • Explore a number of Government schemes that could pay part or all of your course, exam and material fees. • Apply for an Advanced Learner Loan if you are studying at level 3 or above. • Apply for a bursary to support you with College costs, (if your family income is £25,000 a year or less coming into the household). Government Schemes* If you are aged 19 plus and the course you are applying appears on a fundable Legal Entitlement or Waiver list, then as long as the eligibility requirements are met, you may be able to fund your course with a Legal Entitlement or a Waiver. For example: • If you are 19-23, have not previously achieved a Full Level 2 or 3, then you might be eligible to fund your first Full Level 2/3 through a Legal Entitlement. • If you are 24 plus, studying on a course up to level 2: - Are unemployed and in receipt of certain benefits, then you might be able to obtain a Benefit Waiver, or - Are employed either full or part-time, or are self-employed and earn less than £16,009.50 per year, then you might be eligible for a Low Income Waiver. • If you are 19-23, studying on a course up to level 2 and already have a Full Level 2: - Are unemployed and in receipt of certain benefits, then you might be able to obtain a Benefit Waiver, or - Are employed either full or part-time, or are self-employed and earn less than £16,009.50 per year, then you might be eligible for a Low Income Waiver. EMPLOYABILITY & PROGRESSION The Employability and Progression department of SGS College, formerly known as Suited Booted Recruited, is here to help you with your personal well-being and progress into volunteering or the workplace. Our short courses are specifically designed to help you boost your confidence and increase your knowledge of the society in which you live and will work, providing you with the knowledge and skills to make balanced and increasingly independent transitions both now and in later life. PERSONAL WELL-BEING Our new Personal Well-being course is for people who are looking at developing their knowledge of personal and social development including mental and physical well-being, healthy lifestyles, understanding stress, values and beliefs, equality and diversity in society, as well as the concept of managing risk, thus enabling learners to make positive and informed choices in their lives. • The course aims to increase learners’ knowledge of the society in which they live and will work, providing them with the knowledge and skills to make balanced and increasingly independent transitions both now and in later life • Learners will come to understand the importance of resilience and grit, looking at making the right impression and maintaining a positive mindset, along with how to manage transitions in different environments • Nutrition and healthy lifestyle workshop • Two-week part-time course with 12 weeks’ ongoing support PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSE Our Personal Development course is a follow-on from Personal Well-Being and aims to help you plan and prepare for the workplace! Expect to build on your FREE career planning, develop a better understanding of employment contracts and payslips, prepare for an interview and learn how to budget your money.
