OUR SPONSORS KNOW THAT BURNETT MUSIC FOUNDATION ART IS GOOD BUSINESS TOO Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area USA We teach the next generation of Jazz musicians to think creatively as both entrepreneurs and improvising artists! Artists Recording Collective (ARC) is a Kansas Limited Liability Company in Good Standing that was cofounded by professional jazz recording artists Christopher Burnett, Erica Lindsay and Sumi Tonooka as a professional record label with a new nonprofit business model centered on artist empowerment and retaining ownership of their work. The ARC catalog of recordings began with one album and three artists in 2007. Today the label has over 100 commercial releases that feature over 300 artists. ARC has also partnered with other entities and businesses over the years to realize engaging arts and education programs such as the monthly ARC STUDENT JAZZ JAM SESSION at 424 Lounge in historic downtown of the northwest KC metro area city of Leavenworth. This no-cost educational program is totally funded by tax-deductible sponsorships, donations, and grants in order to eliminate economic barriers to participation. BIRD BOOT CAMP + MUSICAL SALUTE is a flagship nonprofit program of the annual Spotlight: Charlie Parker celebration throughout the Greater Kansas City Region. The cultural significance of the uniquely American musical innovation called “Jazz” music is validated by its global acknowledgement and recognition for over a century. At the forefront of the developments in modern Jazz music is our very own Kansas City area native, Charlie Parker, whose harmonic and melodic discoveries remain integral to all styles of modern music to this day. Bird Boot Camp is an immersion program that rigorously engages youth intellectually through the applied study of jazz. This no-cost educational program is totally funded by tax-deductible sponsorships, donations, and grants in order to eliminate economic barriers to participation.
