The Foundation moved its three member staff into a permanent office, established new operational policies, created plans to increase legacy giving, established a church appreciation project, and became charter members of the Bishop’s Children Matter Most initiative. Tribute gifts increased to 219, the largest number ever received in a year. We welcomed 360 new donors and ten new legacy donors. We received $784,614 in donations from 1,275 donors. The “three-legged stool” of Home leadership, (the Foundation Board, Auxiliary Executive Committee and Home’s Board of Trustees) joined Home staff in The Heart of The Home giving-club. Because of you, our children made academic progress. They learned social skills. They found happiness and hope for the future, and they learned about God’s love. The Foundation continues to grow to ensure Indiana youth in crisis will always have a place to call Home and find hope for the future. Your Gifts Give Youth Like Ava Hope for the Future. Ava, now 17, is finding hope on our campus. The past abuse she endured was especially harsh during holidays. When she arrived at the Children’s Home, our treatment team began helping her work through her behavioral challenges that resulted from severe trauma. She experienced fear of being around adult males and struggled initiating greetings and engaging in conversation. Our skilled team identified Ava’s social behaviors that were barriers to her finishing school, maintaining employment and finding happiness. Through the consistency of our Teaching Family Model and our caring staff, Ava is now flourishing at our on-campus school, succeeding at her part-time job in the community and aspires to attend college or a trade school in early 2022. She also volunteers in the community and is now known on campus for being kind, friendly and helping her peers. Her progress is no surprise to staff helping her heal from her past. “Ava’s progress is remarkable. She is the first to volunteer here at our chapel garden and always strives to serve others,” said Rachel Alstott, the Home’s spiritual life director. “Her loyal attendance in our early Monday morning prayer circle is encouraging. She is seeking opportunity to grow in her spiritual life.” Donations to Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
