CHURCH PROFILE
ROSEWOOD PARK ALLIANCE CHURCH
CHURCH HISTORY
Rosewood Park Alliance Church (RPAC) is a member church of The Christian and
Missionary Alliance in Canada, belonging to a group of approximately 440 local
Canadian churches.

The leadership of the Alliance Tabernacle (now Living Hope Alliance Church)
determined there should be a church in northwest Regina. On October 20, 1957
a new congregation was born and for six years, services were held at Canadian
Bible College while the leadership continued to explore building a church. Then
in 1963, a partially built church became available and was purchased and named
Woodward Avenue Alliance Church.

There was a need to accommodate a growing congregation. In 1981, 40 acres
of farm land was purchased outside the northwest city limits. The church was
renamed Rosewood Park Alliance Church and the first phase of the building was
completed in August 1986. The sanctuary and classrooms were completed in
2000.

Rosewood Park Alliance Church is located at 1300N Courtney Street (the farthest
west street in northwest Regina) and two kilometers from the Regina Bypass that
provides access to all major highways leading to the city.

In the past, the church had a major ministry to new immigrants and to new moms
and families from the community by providing free used clothes semi-annually.
Depending on the season, we would average between 400 to 600 people coming
for free clothes. Due to COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021, the church has been unable
to provide this service to the community and the new immigrants.

Prior to COVID-19, the church organized an annual Fall Festival providing free
food (usually a pork barbecue), children’s activities and music entertainment
which brought many people from the community to our church site.

                                                                                  4

WHO WE ARE NOW
Our current staff roles include a Transitional Pastor, an Associate Pastor, a Director
of Praise and Worship, an Administrative Assistant and a Custodian.

Currently Rosewood provides ministries for adults, seniors, women, small groups,
youth (including bible quizzing), and children (Sunday School and Summer Day
Camp). Our prayer ministry meets Thursdays during our “Sacred Space” time. Our
Sunday morning attendance is on average around 150.

We have just recently had a time of discernment leading to a vote on the question
of women as elders. In March 2022, the membership voted on the question of
allowing Women as Elders and the vote came back 50-50; we would not consider
women to sit on the board of elders at this time. The board continues to affirm
the role of women in leadership in the many different ministries and committees
that exist within our church community.

Our facility is currently home to the Rosewood Park School of Music. Our space
is used to offer music lessons for those ages 3-16. We offer group and individual
lessons in piano, keyboard, flute, violin and guitar. This program is growing each
year and is a great outreach to our community.

The church has loans with the Canadian Midwest District and a line of credit
with a financial institution for ongoing operations. Also, the church is an equal
participant in a joint arrangement for developing land that borders the church
property. There has been some progress as some properties have been sold and
the developer is in various stages of pre-building work.

                                                                                         5

VISION STATEMENT
We aspire to be a people devoted to Christ and empowered by the Spirit, so that
in all we do, we passionately love God, love one another and love the world.

PREAMBLE
This vision represents what Rosewood Park Alliance Church aims to be, through the
grace of God. It is intended to shape and form the basis for the ministries of our
church.

    “... DEVOTED TO CHRIST”1
We understand Christ in light of the Fourfold Gospel (Christ the Saviour,
Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King), which leads us to devote ourselves
individually and corporately to spend time in the Word,2 in prayer,3 and in
worship.4 Recognizing that Christ is the Living Word,5 we submit to the
authority of Scripture as the inspired Word of God.6 As such, the Holy
Bible is our guide for life and ministry.7

“...EMPOWERED BY THE SPIRIT,8 SO THAT IN ALL WE DO”9
We believe it is the Holy Spirit who does the life-long transformative work
in our lives.10 We yield and rely on Him11 to produce the Fruit of the Spirit12
in us. This is evident in our personal and public attitudes and actions,
as well as our online behaviours. We also seek to use and continually
develop the Gifts of the Spirit13 to serve others as Jesus did, believing that
all of the gifts are for today.

    “...PASSIONATELY LOVE GOD”14
We are inspired to love and worship Him15 with our whole heart, soul, mind,
and strength16 because of who He is,17 as well as what He has done,18 is
doing,19 and will do20 for us. We continually seek a deeper relationship
with God and submit our lives to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.21

    “...PASSIONATELY LOVE ONE ANOTHER (CHURCH)”22
We embrace that God adopts all who are saved to be His children.23 In
light of this, we love and care for the family of God. We demonstrate
His love through serving, meeting needs,24 teaching,25 mentoring,26
discipling,27 and encouragement.28 We grow meaningful relationships
through choosing to walk in unity, transparency, and accountability.29

“...PASSIONATELY LOVE THE WORLD (LOCAL & GLOBAL)”30
As part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada and guided by
the Great Commission – to go into all the world and make disciples of all
nations31 – we foster a culture of missions and outreach.32 We accomplish
