OTTAWA HP WEEKEND Friday & Saturday June 4th-5th, 2021 The Ottawa Lions will kick off the Tokyo Qualifier Series by hosting two consecutive days of athletic competition in the lead up to the Canadian Olympic Trials in Montreal. Events will run Friday evening and Saturday. FACILITY: The Terry Fox Athletic Facility which is situated in the picturesque Mooneys Bay Park which recently played host to the 2017 & 2018 Canadian National Championships. The facility has an eight lane Mondo Surface track, 3 jump runways, 2 PV runways, five throwing circles, two javelin runways and a high jump pit. LOCATION: Terry Fox Athletic Facility, 2960 Riverside Dr. Ottawa, Ontario K1V 8N4 ENTRY FEE: $25.00 for the first event, $10.00 for all additional events. ENTRY DEADLINE: Wednesday June 2nd, 2021 at 11:59pm ET. MEET ENTRY: All entries are to be completed on http://www.trackiereg.com/ottawaHPweekend2021 ELIGIBILITY: Must be registered with Athletics Canada. ACCOMMODATIONS: Call or email us for suggestions. FINAL SCHEDULE: A final schedule will be released and emailed to all entrants (Thursday, June 3rd). If there are insufficient entries, events may be combined or removed from the schedule. HIGH PERFORMANCE: The Ottawa HP weekend has received a National Permit and a World Athletics E Classification. A High Performance program for will take place on Friday evening & Saturday. Requests for invitational sections can be sent to the meet director Richard Johnston (rjohnston@ottawalions.com). Heats & Finals will be scheduled in for the HP 100M and 100M/110M Hurdles. Athletes who currently sit in positon to qualify for Tokyo 2021 or within a realistic range of the World Athletics Quota will be priority. FIELD SIZES: We will hold only one section for each event. Field events will take place with men and women competing together. IMPLEMENTS: Athletes are asked to brign their own throwing implements. They will also be expected to retireve their own implements. HIGH JUMP: A personal tarp or cover is recommended for jumpers to cover the landing area. COACHES: At this time, coaches are not permitted inside the venue fence line for track events. We are working to provide viewing for the Horizontal jumps and Shot Put (which are not positioned to view from outside the fence). PACE SETTERS: We are still in serch for pace setters for the Women 800m, 1500m and Men’s 800m, 1500m, 5000m. The pacing required are to hit the National Chmpionship invite time at a minimum. COVID PRECAUTIONS:Athletes travelling into Ottawa must provide travel plans (arrival, accomodations, departure) when registering for the event. All athletes will be required to comlete a pre-screening health check before entering the facility. https://forms.gle/7ctLL5tf4CbaKxHq8 Masks are to be worn at all times unless competing or warming up. This includes the time between jumps, throws and post race. All participants, volunteers and officials will maintain physical distancing. Athletes, volunteers and officials will follow the flow of traffic rules and zone restrictions within the facility. See the venue notes below. OFFICIALS & VOLUNTEERS: Under thecurrent environment, Ottawa’s strict measures laid out by Ottawa public health meaning that we will be running this event with a skeleton crew. TENTATIVE SCHEDULE: The schedule shown below illustrates the time line of events in the 4 areas of the Terry Fox Athletic Facility. Athletes will only be permitted into the respective areas at the time scheduled. Track athletes will be permitted to conduct their warm-ups in the North Field before being marshalled down to the oval. The gun will go off at the mid point of that time slot (example – Women 400mH enter the main stadium at 4:30pm, the gun will go off at 4:45pm). This allows athletes 15min of prep on the track and time to exit the venue after. This is a total of 1hr in the facility, warm ups and cool downs can be conducted outside the venue. Field athletes will be permitted directly to their event area for 45min of warm-up. This allows 75min for the competition to take place.
VENUE LAYOUT: Below are two images of the Terry Fox Athletic Facility. The City of Ottawa has very strict guidelines implemented for the facility, including capacity limits and the avoidance of crossing into different areas and creating one way flow of traffic between areas. Officials and volunteers will direct the flow of traffic and let athletes know when they can enter the appropriate area. Athletes will enter the facility at the North Field (gate facing Riverside Drive). Consider the Warm-up Area as a large ACC prior to moving to your respective competitive area. COMPETITON AREAS:

Examples include doorknobs, elevator buttons, light switches, toilet handles, counters, hand rails, touch screen surfaces and keypads.
