Agrusa CEO and President ICONICS Introduction Person I'm Russ Agrusa the CEO and founder of ICONICS, we are an international company with our headquarters located in Foxboro MA. USA. As the leader of ICONICS for over 30 years I have been passionate about creating innovative software products based on the OPC technology for manufacturing, Industry and Smart building solutions. Since 1995, I was one of the few original supports who advocated for an international interoperability standard, which came to be known as OPC. As a member of the OPC Board since 2003 I have served on many OPC committees and today I am actively and passionately involved in evangelizing the OPC Standard and OPC technology worldwide. Over the years ICONICS has produced many OPC products, including OPC toolkits, OPC Servers and many SCADA, Historian, IoT and Cloud based automation products Introduction Company ICONICS produces groundbreaking automation software used in over 400,000 applications worldwide. Our SCADA, IoT and cloud software solutions help customers such as Disney and Universal Studios monitor and control their attractions to helping run airports such as London's Heathrow and NYC's LaGuardia. My motivation as a candidate for the board Since 1995, I have personally contributed to OPC's early success and ICONICS has played an important role over the years, significantly contributing to the development and adoption of the first OPC and OPC UA standards and technology. My motivation is to earn your vote to continue my work as a member of the OPC Foundation Board so that I can contribute to OPC's digital transformation and adoption as the interoperability standard for new IoT, Digital Twins, and Cloud based solutions of the future. Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/2022 - OPC Foundation Board of Director Matthias Damm Executive Director Introduction Person After finishing his Diploma of Electrical Engineering from University of Applied Sciences in Schweinfurt, Germany, he worked as team lead of an OPC development team at Siemens Industrial Services. In 2003 he founded ascolab with two colleagues. At ascolab he is one of the executive directors and responsible for OPC Consulting & Standardization. Matthias is member of the OPC Foundation board of directors, technical control board, technical advisory council and one of the editors in the OPC UA working group. In addition he is active in several OPC UA collaboration working groups. He is the chairman of the OPC Device Integration working group and the PubSub Prototyping working group. In other working groups like OPC UA for AutoID he supports the working groups as an OPC UA expert Introduction Company The ascolab GmbH is an international operating corporation dedicated to industrial communication. We advise and assist server- and client-sided software development including certification. My motivation as a candidate for the board I am active in OPC Foundation working groups since more then 20 years and part of the core team for the development of the OPC Unified Architecture since the working group started in 2003. I have a very high interest in the success of the OPC Foundation and the adoption of the developed specifications. As member of the OPC Foundation board of directors I was able to contribute to the growth of the OPC Foundation in the last six years. Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/2022 - OPC Foundation Board of Director Bernhard Eschermann CTO lndustrial Automation Introduction Person Bernhard Eschermann is CTO of ABB’s Industrial Automation business and member of ABB’s Group Technology Leadership Team since 2013. He joined ABB in 1993 and has since held a variety of management positions. Prior to his current role he served as General Manager of ABB’s Power Semiconductors business. Earlier he was Managing Director for ABB’s Corporate Research Center in Switzerland. Outside of ABB, he serves on the Innovation Council of Innosuisse, the Swiss federal agency for the promotion of innovation projects. He is also a member of Swiss Academy of Technical Sciences (SATW) and a member of the board of Hasler Foundation. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, USA. My motivation as a candidate for the board I have been serving on the board of the OPC Foundation since November 2018. In my view, OPC Foundation is uniquely positioned to provide solutions to three challenges: -Provide a consistent information model from the sensor to the cloud, enabling applications to take full advantage of this model on each layer of the automation pyramid. -Provide a consistent information model across multiple forms of field communication, including the support of universally accepted future field level communication stacks (both wired and wireless), which should enable to connect devices from any supplier. -Provide a common technology across multiple industries including discrete, hybrid and process, enabling to drive economies of scale. I see my role on the board to support creating the right environment for the success of this evolution. Content
Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/2022 - OPC Foundation Board of Director Andreas Faath Head of lnteroperability Introduction Person Andreas Faath, VDMA, Head of lnteroperability and designated representative for the OPC Foundation, is responsible for the VDMA's OPC UA activities in which more than 600 companies worldwide are involved. This positions him as an important contact for the international mechanical and plant engineering industry regarding OPC UA standardization. Due to the close cooperation with numerous companies in the mechanical and plant engineering industry, he represents their wishes and requirements regarding OPC UA. Due to the strong international political networks of the VDMA, Mr. Faath has successfully introduced the OPC UA activities into the global politics. Prior to his employment at the VDMA, Mr. Faath studied mechanical and process engineering and was a scientist at the Technical University of Darmstadt with focus on Digitalization and llOT. Afterwards he worked in research and development for process optimization and digitalization in the field of vehicle testing at General Motors. Introduction Company The Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau – VDMA) has its headquarters in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, and represents globally around 3,300 members, making it the largest industry association in Europe, maybe the world. It has international offices in China, Japan, India, Russia, Brasil, Austria and Brussels. The Association represents world wide the interests of the predominantly medium-sized companies in the mechanical engineering industry towards policymakers and society, as well as towards business, the scientific community, public authorities and the media. In the field of OPC UA, the VDMA hosts more than 35 OPC UA Companion Specification working groups and has involved over 600 companies from all over the world. Thus, the VDMA is the voice and the global gravitational center for the development of OPC UA Companion Specifications for the mechanical and plant engineering industry. The association was founded in 1892 My motivation as a candidate for the board I would like to support the OPC Foundation by joining the Board of Directors, to promote the adaptation of OPC UA Companion Specifications and to focus more on the needs of OPC UA users. In addition to the technical interoperability of OPC UA, my goal is to strengthen the semantic interoperability through OPC UA Companion Specifications and to promote adaptation and harmonization worldwide. I will use my network on the one hand to anchor OPC UA even more strongly in politics and on the other hand to better integrate user requirements into the activities of the OPC Foundation. Due to the numerous standardization projects in which the VDMA is involved, I will act as a mouthpiece for the European and international mechanical and plant engineering industry. Content
Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/2022 - OPC Foundation Board of Director Stefan Hoppe Senior Manager Strategy Technologies Introduction Person Stefan Hoppe is the OPC Foundation President since end 2018 coordinating the OPC expansion into the Internet of Things & Industrie4.0. Stefan has been the Global Vice President since 2014 and the President of the OPC Europe organization since 2010 being the catalyst for initiating liaisons with other industrial consortiums that has resulted in OPC working groups developing companion specifications for the organizations respective information models - for example, in 2006 he proposed the joint working group OPCF with PLCopen before becoming its leader in 2009. Stefan Hoppe studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany. Since 1995 he has worked for BECKHOFF Automation, starting as a software developer (also for OPC classic) later as a lead Product Manager for "TwinCAT automation sweat" with focus on PC based Automation, connectivity and embedded software products. Introduction Company Beckhoff implements open automation systems based on PC Control technology. The product range covers lndustrial PCs, l/O and Fieldbus Components, Drive Technology and automation software. Products that can be used as separate components or integrated into a complete and seamless control system are available for all industries. The Beckhoff "New Automation Technology" philosophy represents universal and open control and automation solutions that are used worldwide in a wide variety of different applications. Beckhoff supports open standards - e.g. the potential of OPC UA was recognized early on and innovatively integrated into products: (Beckhoff OPC UA) 2007 world's first OPC UA server worldwide integrated in an embedded PLC (certified 2008) / 2009 world's first lEC61131-3-based OPC UA client in the PLC / 2014 first SoA- PLC worldwide that allows remote procedure calls into the PLC. Today Beckhoff colleagues actively support the OPC Foundation in various working groups My motivation as a candidate for the board Since I started my career at Beckhoff in 1995, the world of OPC has accompanied me in various activities. Today, 25 years later, I look back with gratitude for Hans Beckhoff's support, but also with pride and humility on the journey I have made. It is a great honor for me to be the president of the OPC Foundation and to join with many others in advancing the OPC UA standard as an important building block for the digitalization of the automation world. Successful and growing eco-systems face the challenge to involve more players on the one hand, but on the other hand to remain capable of acting (and to leave politics at the door if possible) I ask for your vote in order to continue to actively address the right course of action on the Board of Directors: - Expansion of collaborations for further markets - Harmonization of common data & interfaces - Expansion of Validation & Certification - Harmonization of UA in Process and Factory - Spread of UA technology especially in the ITworld Content
Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/ 2022 - OPCFoundation Board of Director Fabrice Jadot SVP Industrial Automation Incubator Introduction Person Fabrice first joined Schneider Electric in 1997 focusing on motor control within R&D as part of the variable speed drives activity, He then took different managerial positions to become Offer & Technology Officer for the Motion & Drives Line of Business in charge of worldwide offer creation. In 2012, he joined the corporate organization of the company as the Strategy and Innovation Platforms VP dealing with cross-business technology platforms. In 2014, Fabrice took the role of SVP Technology & Innovation and Chief Technology Officer for the Industry Business. He was chairman of ODVA till 2019. He is member of the board of OPCF. He was a pioneer of OPC UA FLC. Since 2019, he has the lead of the Industrial Automation Incubator to create a software defined hardware automation system. Fabrice graduated from Catholic University of LOUVAIN, LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE, BELGIUM, CESAME (Centre for Systems Engineering) Doctoral degree in Mathematical Engineering, Specialization in Control. Be in the driver seat to prepare the future of industrial automation: data will be the new source of profit for customers in the years to come. Access to data through protocols as well as understanding of data through models will be key to unleash the potential of IIoT/I4.0. Enabling exchange of data throughout the ISA95 automation pyramid is required to seamlessly integrate all things together while making value of data on- premise and/or off-premise. It will enable all players in the value chain to focus on innovation rather than to worry about communication. It will contribute to improve flexibility of evolution, accelerate return on investments and reduce waste of time. Content
Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/2022 - OPC Foundation Board of Director Gary Martz Director lndustrial loT Standards and Open Source Software Introduction Person Gary Martz is the Director of Industrial IoT Standards and Open Source Software at Intel Corporation. In this role Gary leads a team defining and implementing the industrial IoT standards and open source strategy for Intel's Industrial Solutions Division. Currently on the board of directors at The Open Group, Gary also has extensive standards governing experience on the boards of directors for the Wi-Fi Alliance, Open Connectivity Foundation, and the Open Mobile Alliance. In addition to helping build the standards and open source foundation for Industrial IoT, Gary also participates in the definition of both licensed and unlicensed Industrial wireless standards as part of Intel Corporation’s Next Generation Standards team. Gary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Washington (’95) and an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business (’00). My governing experience spans communications technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 5G, and IoT communication frameworks), industrial solutions (process automation and energy), and data/information models. My focus is helping organizations set and achieve the goals of their membership. In the role as a Director for the OPC Foundation I will help OPC members deliver and build ecosystem support for their near-term goals such as deterministic UA, field-level communications, harmonization of companion specifications, and provisioning services. I will also use my previous governing experience to help the OPC Foundation board evaluate and set goals for future areas of organizational growth that will best meet member needs. Content
Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/2022 - OPC Foundation Board of Director Veronika Schmid-Lutz Introduction Person Veronika joined SAP in 1995 as a developer in manufacturing and contributed to several applications in ERP Production Planning (PP) and Advanced Planning & Optimization (APO). After leading various development organizations within SAP Veronika took over the role of Director Solution Management and Development Industry Business Unit Mill Products in 2003. In 2008 Veronika assumed the role of Head of Delivery Management Manufacturing. From May 2010 until July 2020 Veronika was the Chief Product Owner for Manufacturing at SAP and in this role responsible for the roadmap as well as the success of the manufacturing products of SAP. Veronika holds a Diploma of Precision Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Ulm/Germany. In 2015 Veronika was elected as a board member of the OPC Foundation. Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/2022 - OPC Foundation Board of Director Charlie Sheridan CTO Manufacturing lndustry Vertical Introduction Person Charlie is a 30 year industry technology veteran covering Industrial networking, IoT, Big Data and AI in Manufacturing, Semiconductor and Automotive verticals. He has gained international experience through working and living in many countries, holds 8 patents, published books and contributed to industry standards. He has deep expertise and understanding of the challenges faced by all companies across the industrial supply chain. Charlie, through his previous company became a founding member and program steering committee member for the OPC Field Level Communications (FLC) initiative launched in November 2018 where he contributed resources to the effort. In addition he has international experience with Sematech ISMI working groups, has participated in European Commission policy and research programs. Charlie is highly collaborative, passionate for technology and firm believer in driving open standards through industry collaboration. Profiles of the Candidates - Election 2021/2022 - OPC Foundation Board of Director Dr. Jürgen Weinhofer Vice President Introduction Person Jürgen Weinhofer is vice president of the Common Architecture & Technology organization, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Jürgen is responsible for driving innovation, improving user experience by ensuring common system behavior, and enabling the Connected Enterprise by delivering common components including communications capabilities for all Rockwell Automation products. Jürgen joined Rockwell Automation in 1997 and personally supported the OPC Foundation since 2013. Jürgen earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Technology in Graz, Austria and an MBA from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He also has a doctor of science degree from Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria.
