Office Gynecology/Women’s Health for Primary Care In the current era of spiraling medical costs with growing empha- sis on the provision of cost-effective medical care, it has become increasingly important for primary care physicians to be adept at evaluating and treating ambulatory gynecologic problems. This four-day symposium provides the participant with a practical, clini- cal update on a full range of women’s health issues including the diagnosis and management of common gynecologic complaints, contraception, endocrine disorders, and the menopause. In-depth, small group workshops are included which instruct and allow par- ticipants to develop and refine their skills with endometrial biopsy, colposcopy and the intrauterine contraceptive device. Following completion of this program, participants should be able to: • discuss the differential diagnosis and management of common gynecological disorders • recognize the different contraceptive methods available and know how to prescribe them • discuss common problems seen in the menopause and how to effectively manage them • recognize and manage common women’s health issues, includ- ing depression, type 2 diabetes and obesity

Disclosure The FDA has issued a concept paper which classifies commercial support of scientific and educational programs as promotional unless it can be affirmed that the program is “truly independent” and free of commercial influence. In addition to independence, the FDA requires that nonpromotional, commercially supported educa- tion be objective, balanced, and scientifically rigorous. The policy further states that all potential conflicts of interest of the CME staff and faculty be fully disclosed to the program’s participants. In addition, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education policy mandates that the provider adequately manages all identified potential conflicts of interest prior to the program. We at UCLA fully endorse the letter and spirit of these concepts. Questions Please contact the Office of CME by phone at (310) Disney’s Paradise Pier® Hotel 794-2620 or email UCLACME@mednet.ucla.edu.
