COVID-19 PROTOCOLS & INFORMATION UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDELINES On June 14, 2021, new University of Kentucky campus policies regarding COVID-19 were implemented. These reflect current recommendations of the CDC, direction from state government, guidance from health department officials and the counsel of UK’s START team of health scientists and clinicians. Per UK’s COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines: Masks: People who are vaccinated are not required to wear masks or face coverings in campus outdoor spaces or inside non-UK HealthCare campus buildings. Vaccines: Vaccines are not mandated, but strongly encouraged. UK will continue to monitor this issue and change plans, if necessary, to ensure the health and safety of our campus. For more information regarding University of Kentucky campus guidelines, as well as CDC guidelines, please visit the following web pages. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: • For this semester, there will be In-Person classes once again, as well as classes on Zoom only. • There will also be some classes combining In-Person and Zoom learning. These Hybrid classes will have the instructor and a limited number of student in-person, and the rest of students will join the class via Zoom simultaneously. In this catalog, these classes will have “(Hybrid)” next to the class title. For registration, if you register for In-Person, you will also receive a Zoom link and have the option to attend via Zoom. Lisa Higgins-Hord Acting Executive Director for OLLI at UK ABOUT THE ACTING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR OLLI AT UK Lisa is currently serving in a dual role with the University of Kentucky and the City of Lexington. At UK she is the Assistant Vice President for Community Engagement and serves as the Strategic Implementation Coordinator for the City of Lexington. In her duties with the city she is responsible for creating a plan for the recommendations set forth by the Racial Justice and Equality Commission. In her role at UK, she develops, implements and assesses significant community-based projects that create robust partnerships between the University community (faculty, students and staff ) and local, state and regional constituencies. The responsibilities within the University Community Engagement department include the, AmeriCorps VISTA Program and the Office of Lifelong Learning. Lisa is a former Councilwoman for District 6 in Lexington, Kentucky. She is also active in many state and local activities. Currently, Lisa serves on the Bank of the Bluegrass & Trust Board, Co-Chair of the Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative, Chair of the Carnegie Center for Literacy Board and serves on the Town Branch Project (Town Branch Partner). She is also a partner of the Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Consortium at the University of Kentucky which provides training, access and opportunities for faculty and their classes regarding community projects. Lisa was born in Harlan County, Kentucky and raised in Lexington. Lisa continued her education at the University of Kentucky where she received her Bachelor’s and a Master's Degree. Lisa is a graduate of the Center for Organizational and Technological Advancement’s Academy for Leaders at Virginia Tech. She is also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa, National Honor Leadership Society. 5

The program provides information and a format for groups to discuss the “…most critical global issues facing America today.” Members learn together as they exercise critical thinking skills and share their personal understandings of issues that are sometimes complex and controversial. The Great Decisions workbook typically contains eight topics, with this group discussing the first four in the spring, and the last four in the fall. The topics for the Fall 2021 SIG are the following: • China in Africa • The Two Koreas • Role of the WHO • End of Globalization? Any adult 50 years of age and older is eligible to register for OLLI membership, courses, events, SIGs, trips, etc. HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER? Membership can be purchased online or mailed-in with your semester registration. When registering online, membership must be completed first before courses can be selected. HOW LONG DOES MY MEMBERSHIP LAST? All annual memberships are effective from August 1 through July 31. HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A COURSE ONLINE? When a class is open for registration, it will have an “Add to Cart” button. If it is already full, it will have a “Wait List” button. Always add yourself to the wait list. Members provide all resources needed and cover any costs incurred. SIGs may last one, two or three semesters in any annual year. 15
